Arrived broken. Doesn't stay in doorway unless holders are attached to the door frame. I don't understand why there aren't more in-between options for width so that the sideways pressure would hold the gate in the door frame (the way baby gates used to!).

I got the Evenflo Position & Lock Farmhouse gate... it’s sturdy and looks nice but the lock is a pain to slide into place. My wife can’t get it locked at all. Once it’s locked though, it’s solid. For the price it’s ok, but if you need to go through it often this is not the gate.

The Evenflo Position & Lock is definitely a good gate. It’s cheap, looks decent, and installs quickly. But the latch is honestly awful. It’s way too tight and you need a lot of force—my wife can't lock it half the time. Great as a permanent barrier you don’t cross often, not great for everyday doorways.

I’ve had this gate for a year now... the lock isn’t the easiest but with practice it gets better. Once you figure out the right angle it’s less of a fight. Not perfect, but for a pressure gate it does the job and is good value.

Warning against pressure-mounted gates like Evenflo for stairs
Do NOT use pressure mounted gates at the top of the stairs. We have the Evenflo one and it seems fine but for stairs you need hardware mounted. Best cheap option is the Cardinal Gates Stairway Special. Don’t risk it.
