Chicco KeyFit 35 ClearTex Infant Car Seat & Base (Shadow Black)

A few days ago, my 3 week old was in the car with me when we T-boned another vehicle that failed to yield to us at an intersection. Luckily we chose the correct car seat for her when we picked this one out. We got checked out at the hospital and she was completely unharmed! We have to replace hers so we will be purchasing this one again (even though we bought hers less than a month ago)😫 Other than being amazing for safety purposes, this seat is also very nice. It has a cushion around the crotch buckle area to make it more comfortable for baby. It is very easy to use in comparison to other car seats we have used in the past. We also have a 20 month old so we have used a couple of other brands for her. She was in the wreck with us too and was unharmed except for some minor bruising. However, she was in a different carseat. If you’re looking for a safe seat for your babies, this is the one!! My car is totaled but I’m so glad my babies were protected!

I'm excited to see that there's a version now with magnets instead of snaps, but bummed to read a review that the distance between the handle and canopy hasn't been corrected. I purchased the 35zip as a second carseat (quite frankly that was unnecessary, but I couldn't decide between the no longer made nuna pipa with the no rethread.., mesa max, or 35zip in 2023) I used the chicco for maybe the first 6 weeks..so hardly any, it was too frustrating to deal with the snaps and repositioning the handle against the canopy..had to have the canopy at a certain position to comfortably put my hand around the handle to carry. The seat weight doesn't phase me, but I would love to see an extra inch between the handle and canopy with the magnets, maybe even some leatherette features..then this would definitely be my dream infant car seat! Overall this a great carseat, but the mentions above were too much of a nuisance for us compared to our primary mesa max (which the handle was too long towards the end of using it..so somewhere in between would be nice, maybe even an extendable canopy opposed to the zip..). We ended up gifting it to a family member. Despite my pickiness, I would definitely recommend the latest version, the keyfit max! We own the myfit cleartex, all in one cleartex, chicco fit360.. wish I would've waited for the zip to come out..Definitely thinking of an excuse to upgrade ours! I'd love to see the leg rest option for the older kids cleartex seats, but considering the various brands that I've explored over my 12 years of being a mom, chicco is definitely one of my top choices! I want to add, that even the nonzip chicco cleartex options are easy to clean!

The KeyFit35 is the perfect car seat! It is all around easy to use, lightweight, and durable. Additionally, the base is very secure and easy to install. The KeyFit35 can go in just about any car since it can be installed several different ways. Chicco has some awesome videos on their website to help with install options! It is very easy to adjust the car seat as baby grows! I love that the product can be used until baby is 35lbs (longer than many competitors products). We also purchased the Chicco KeyFit Caddy stroller frame for use with our KeyFit35. I highly recommend you check out the Caddy if you are buying the KeyFit 35! More importantly, Chicco's safety ratings are excellent! As a first time mom, I have peace of mind knowing my baby is safe in her Chicco Keyfit35. My husband and I (and our baby girl) LOVE the KeyFit35! We highly recommend it!

Chicco sent the wrong item, which was purchased as a gift for an expectant mother who was in need of the baby car seat.

Buy direct from Chicco USA instead of outlets. This same item with the stroller attachment that I I bought here was at least $150 MORE at another on-line site (the store EVERYBODY shops). I cannot critique the actual car seat and stroller since it was a shower gift for my granddaughter in Maine however I know it was shipped packaged well and delivered on the date promised.

Very nice car seat! Well built, quality materials. A little heavier than expected but feels very safe. Just what we were looking for. I matched this with the black Corso LE and it’s a great looking travel system. Excited to use it when baby arrives!

This is our Fouth child using a Chicco infant car seat so we have been using them for 6 years now. I love this car seat! First of all, I really love the newly designed canopy. Phenomenal design that is easy to use when you need it. Also the newborn cushion upgraded design is really great as well. I love The new base. It is very easy to instal and you can tell just how super safe it is! We transfer it between vehicles all the time and just love how easy and secure it is. They really did a good job making this car seat safe for baby and still so comfortable, giving my baby a place of peace and relaxation while we drive. Thank-you Chicco for amazing products for our little ones!

We are first time parents and this seat came highly rated by multiple online listings so we gave it a shot! It did not disappoint. It was easy to install in the car. Our newborn fit into it perfectly and seemed very comfortable. She seems very secure when buckled in and the features such as the sun shade have been invaluable when going on long walks with our stroller.

I bought this about 2 months ago but what I don’t like about it is that the car seat itself is very heavy compared to other car seats.

The extra fabric on the canopy makes it nearly impossible to put the handle back, extremely frustrating. Also lost $100, needing to pay for our own shipping costs to return the item. I suggest not buying directly from Chicco. Very disappointed by the entire process for such a well reputable company.

This car seat is very easy to use and good quality. You hear nightmares about how difficult it can be to install the car seat base, but it was really very straightforward. Adjusting the straps is not intuitive, but the instructions are very clear on how to do it. Baby sits in there nice and snug, and she seems to like being in there because she does not cry! My only complaint is that you need two hands to move the handlebar, so you have to adjust the handlebar before putting the car seat into the car.

From the ease of install to the safety and comfort of my little one, I couldn’t be happier with this infant car seat! The latches on the base click right into the latches of my car (Jeep) and the pull strap easily tightens the base. Labels on the base give helpful hints to install. With a click and check of the car seat, it’s secure in the base! The fabric of the seat is soft, yet durable making it easy to clean (user guide provides a full breakdown for cleaning). It was hard to choose between color options because I like them all:) The infant insert is even softer for the baby’s delicate skin. I LOVE the breathable canopy that is found zipped inside of the main canopy. Wonderful product and highly recommend!

I’m so pleased with this car seat. It’s solid and fits nicely in both the stroller and in the seat in the car. I used to be a car seat tech a few years back and found this seat very easy to install.

The quality and attention to detail and safety are evident as soon as I started to unpack the car seat. We immediately noticed that not only did it meet and exceed our expectations in the areas of safety but in attention to comfort for our little one. The secure base with the extra stability bar gives a firm secure fit. Installation was easy and I am confident in our installation with the easy to view the levels. The seat itself has many Key features that stood out to me. The cushion in the seat seems to go above and beyond what’s regularly in place for infants.. The zip off covers for easy wash and the zip down shield. The ability to adjust the belt with just the push of a button is so convenient. I felt the comfort and integrity of the seat exceeded our expectations. We would definitely highly recommend it.

Being a long time Chicco car seat user, we got this seat for some close friends and their new baby. I'd never use another brand and wanted to spread the love. I spoke with my friend after they installed and use the seat and like all other Chicco products this car seat was easy to install, easy to clean, and was very comfortable for their daughter. They love the added canopy with the mesh panel, Chicco literally thinks of everything.

I am such a fan of Chicco car seats and so excited my newborn daughter has their KeyFit 35 Zip ClearTex Extended-Use Infant Car Seat. This is the best infant car seat offering more headrest height and legroom for extended rear-facing use. I love how all of Chicco's ClearTex products feature no added chemicals and the breathable canopy zips open offering a full coverage privacy shield. My favorite feature is that the car seat cover is machine washable- that easily zips off to throw in the wash----because if you know how dirty car seats get- you know how important this feature is!! Highly recommend!

I chose this car seat right after it came out last year. We’ve been using it for 9.5 months and still have plenty of life left. I love how soft and aesthetically pleasing the fabric Is. Absolutely love the drape. It’s been of big help during covid and to shield baby from stranger coming up and wanting to touch her face (it’s happened when she was in the regular stroller seat). Very easy installation. We got a second base for my husbands car. The UPF 50 canopy, cleartex fabric, no RETHREAD harness, and machine washable interior is all a huge plus. I researched so many caraways before buying this one and I’m pleased to say it’s met my expectations and more. We will be purchasing the one fit cleartex once we upgrade to the next seat.

This is not the first infant car seat we have purchased over the years. This is the second Chicco seat. Our previous one kept our 1 year old daughter unharmed after a horrible car accident. We decided to give their new seat a try this time. It is so easy to install either by latch or car seatbelt. The shoulder straps are easy to adjust to the right height. Our little one isn’t quite 5lbs and it fits her well. Super easy to tighten her in. Bonus is the ClearTex. The padding looks comfortable for her. Another great car seat!

This is actually the second one of these car seats we have purchased - we love it that much! Aside from the aesthetically pleasing looks, the seat feels secure and I am confident my daughter is as safe as possible in this car seat. I also love the full zip feature! It's easy to take in and out of the base and, as I'm 7 months pregnant, it's easier for me to carry than our previous seat.

Installation was very easy, car seat comes out of base easily but secures in well too. The weight is about what you would expect of an infant car seat. Happy with it and would recommend!

As we await the arrival of our first grandchild, my son reached out to me for my advice on which infant carrier to purchase. I told him he needs to find a seat that fits the car will fit the baby and one they will use correctly every time. So he went out and chose the Keyfit 35. so we purchased the seat and an extra base since they have 2 vehicles and the ease of moving from one car to the other makes sense to have the extra base. When the seat was delivered to them my son and daughter in law they couldn't wait to face time us and show us all the features, and with me being a car seat Tech he installed the bases while we were face timing. Thank you Chicco (and I pronounced it right) for all you do to keep our precious passengers safe.

I'm due in a few weeks and just installed this base and carrier in my car. It was so easy! I was a little intimidated at first to install a car seat in my car correctly, but the step by step directions that came with the KeyFit 35 made it a breeze! The base comes with directions for 3 different ways to install the base, so no matter what car you have this car seat will work! Beyond installation there are a lot of great features with this car seat. * It's very light, something that was important to me, I'm not big on upper body strength :) * It also has two places where air can vent if you close the hood all the way. * The fabric is so soft and cushioning, plus I love that it's GREENGAURD Gold, no stinky chemical smell. * The fabric also removes easily for cleaning, making spit up and other fluids easy to clean by throwing them in the washer! Overall, I would 100% recommend this carrier and base to anyone looking for something safe, comfortable and convenient for their baby!

We love the this seat. It was easy to install the base and the level to double check the base is in at the correct angle is great. The seat lasting until around age 2 is a big deal for us, first I've ever seen with a head rest that moves up to extend use. The seat is pretty heavy compared to other infant bucket seats, our little is pretty light but she will probably out grow this seat on weight before height because it will get to where the heavy seat plus her are too much to carry. The zipper in back of the canopy is hard to get back together, it went off track and I almost broke it trying to fix it. The cover washes easily, baby flipped her bottle upside down and the cover needed washed, no staining and no issues putting the cover back on the frame. The cover that unzips from the front of the canopy to shade is great for keeping the wind off of babies like ours that don't want a blanket over them while outside between the house and car. Overall the pros outweigh the two downfalls we ran into and we love the seat. We would recommend it to others.

Before we had our first daughter we went on a search for a safe, comfortable and easy to use car seat for our baby. We fell in love with the Chicco line of car seats and now have two in nextfits. We are currently expecting and needed a new infant seat due to the old one expiring. We immediately knew we would choose a Chicco infant seat. We ultimately decided to get the 35 Zip ClearTex for several reasons. -We love how quick and easy it is to install Chicco car seats. -We are confident that our baby will be safe in this carseat. -We absolutely love the cover that un-zips to discourage people from touching the baby and to protect it from all the germs floating around. -The extended cover also provides protection from the sun and the vent in the back allows air flow. -New to us this time was the no re-thread harness. Our nextfits have this feature and it makes it very easy to adjust the height as our children grow. I'm excited to be able to quickly adjust the infant seat as baby grows. -The 35 will allow us to rear face longer without buying the larger nextfit seat. -I am also happy to know that there are no added chemicals to the fabric of this carseat. The only 'complaint' we have is that the rebound bar adds an inch or two to the space the base needs. For the most part it sits inside the curve of the seat but it is slightly larger than the old base so it may not fit comfortably behind the drivers seat in smaller vehicles. Thank you Chicco for another great carseat!!

I have to admit it took me a few days to start using the car seat as I am a busy mom and was dreading having to adjust straps and tether the base in. I couldn't have been more surprised at how easy this car seat is to adjust and tether the base. You do not have to take out the straps and spend forever adjusting to size then threading the straps back through the holes and reconnecting the straps on the back of the car seat. You just click and slide, its that easy!! Also I will no longer need my husband to take out the base due to the almost impossible clips. This is super easy to connect and remove... myself!!! This car seat is for our baby who has a rare fragile skin condition. The design of this seat could not have been any better if I had designed it myself. Chemical free, super soft with padded straps, protection from the sun and extended leg room. The car seat unlatches very quickly and easily from the base. I am also very pleased that the head support grows with the baby as our baby requires additional support and padding. I was a bit concerned about the size and how it would fit with the other car seats in the car as my old car seat looked more compact. I had no issues at all, it fit exactly where I needed it to allowing for 3 car seats. I highly recommend this car seat!!

We were so pleased to replace our old car seat with this beautiful grey Chicco version. The color is even better in person and gender neutral. It's lighter weight than our last seat, but you can tell it is sturdier and has higher safety standards just by placing baby into it. It's easy to use and easy to snap into place when trying to manage my other kiddos to also get in the car! I highly recommend.

I absolutely love the EXTRA leg room for growing babies! So easy and quick to install. The cushioning and fabric are super soft and easy to remove as needed with your growing little love!

I absolutely love chicco brand and I love this car seat for our newborn girl . She is all cozied up in the car seat and loving the drive home in it .

This is the second Keyfit seat that I have used and I am even more impressed with this one! I really live the stability bar on the base. There is no guessing or worrying about a wobble. It is very easy to install and stable. The spring loaded adjustment makes it easy to get the proper angle. The carseat itself is definitely made with comfort in mind. I fabric is soft and my baby is comfortably snuggled once clipped in. I really love that the new fabric is made with babies skin and health in mind in regards to chemicals. I trust that this is the best carseat for my baby! My favorite part about this seat is the canopy. Once it's pulled down you can unzip the top and pull the extra fabric down to cover the baby and shield them from sun, wind, bugs, or just to give them sanctuary while they nap! Plus it's vented at the head AND feet, so baby gets good airflow. This is probably the most well thought out baby item I own.

With having 5 kids we’ve tried many infant seats and I’ve never found one I actually liked. Most are too heavy once baby gets a couple months old, or they’re a pain to buckle without the base, I could go on. But this KeyFit 35 Zip is absolutely amazing! Reasons I love this seat..... - First and most important for me: NO RE-THREAD HARNESS!!!!! That means when your baby gets a little bigger the harness straps and head rest move up effortlessly by squeezing the buttons together in the back of the seat and sliding it up! You don’t have to take the straps out from the seat and put them through the different holes! - There is an extra canopy piece that unzips from the edge of the hood that covers the other half of the seat. I always see people with the covers over the entire seat but they make me nervous that they aren’t safe since they didn’t come with the seat, this fixes that problem! It’s been cold and windy lately so I unzip the canopy when I take my baby out to the car, plus with Covid I know I can keep him well away from germs when we’re out and about! -The outside of the seat is narrow and it fits 3 across quite nicely, but the inside seems so deep and wide and so plush and comfy that my baby has tons of room and is comfortable and falls right asleep every time I put him in! - I love how easy it is to buckle without the base, and with the base it was a piece of cake! Ive tried it in our 3 vehicles as well as my moms large Sprinter van and it easily and quickly buckles safely into every vehicle we’ve tried. I feel so comfortable knowing my son is safely strapped into the car every time we go somewhere. - The KeyFit 35 is lighter than the other infant seats I’ve had, my baby is now just over 15lbs and I have absolutely no problem carrying him (I’m 5’1 so when seats start to get heavy they’re harder for me to carry). - I love the ClearTex fabric! Safety and health is an absolute priority for my children, I’ve read so much about chemicals in car seats and of course it’s concerning. Knowing that Chicco has made a fabric for their seat without concerning chemicals is amazing! They’ve also been able to keep the fabric soft, breathable, and so comfortable! Long story short, this KeyFit Zip ClearTex is absolutely amazing, I’m so glad I’ve finally found the best infant seat, and I love that my baby can finally use an infant seat until he outgrows it because we love it so much!!

With most carseats, it is a pain to adjust them and to make sure they are snug. Moreover, the canopy is very protective and the straps are very easily adjustable -- again, another complication of cheaper seats. overall, this is a very worthwhile product, and is sturdy enough to last a long time, and multiple children.

Love this car seat. The fabric is so soft, and the cover is easy to use. It’s easy to carry and to remove from base. I love the compartment feature to hold the instructions (otherwise, I would lose it). Overall, it’s an awesome, well-made product.

We received our Keyfit 35 zip cleartex infant car seat in the mail today. I was so excited to take it out of the box to check it out. My goodness it has some pretty awesome features to it! The canopy of the car seat hides extendable mesh panels for privacy when baby is napping, the shoulder straps adjust with just the touch of a button (compared to having take out the straps and try to get them back into different holes), and the infant inserts hug my 12 week old perfectly to keep him safe as he continues to gain head and neck control! This car seat is so much better than the one we had before! The car seat had a slight smell when I first opened the box, but that quickly dissipated.
