Great, trustworthy experience
Great deals, easy checkout with lots of payment options, shipped very quickly, and everything was packed well and looked exactly as it was described! I didn't end up needing any intervention with my shipping experience but appreciate the option to cover lost packages for a minimal fee, especially as we get into the late and lost package holiday season. I'll definitely be getting more of my baby gear from Kidsy.
Reddit Insights
6 threads · r/beyondthebump, r/NewParentsReddit overwhelmingly praises the Fisher-Price Kick & Play Piano Gym as a must-have for infant entertainment and development, with its catchy songs and longevity creating a near-cult following among parents.
Across all threads, sentiment is strongly positive with users calling it 'baby crack', 'the best baby toy', and a sanity-saving purchase. The only mild negatives relate to the music getting stuck in parents' heads and the bright, plastic aesthetic.

Community Q&A
- Is it worth buying or is it overhyped?
- Yes, it's consistently described as worth the money and one of the few baby products that actually lives up to the hype.
- Does the new version (Glow and Grow) live up to the classic?
- Many parents prefer the classic version for its simplicity and song selection, though the new version is still enjoyable.
- When can a baby start using it?
- Newborns can use it in lay-and-play mode, but meaningful engagement often starts around 6–8 weeks when they begin kicking intentionally.
Compared To
vs Lovevery Play Gym
Lovevery is praised for aesthetics and developmental guide, but Fisher-Price wins on value, longevity, and sheer baby engagement.
vs Skip Hop activity gym
Fisher-Price is much more engaging; Skip Hop cannot compete with the piano and lights.
vs Generic baby gyms
The kick-activated piano makes it superior to other mats that are just dangling toys.

Worth the Hype: Parental Consensus on Value
Short answer: Yes. My kid has loved it since he was 2 weeks old (I propped him up on a boppy and he just stared and kicked at the piano). He is now 9 months and he still loves it except now he sits and plays with the piano and pulls the toys off. It's a great toy that grows with them. And I still sing the songs lol. Highly recommend. It's the only toy that has had any staying power for us (babe is 10 months). Nothing else has lasted more than 2-3wks of entertainment. This thing is going strong since like 2 months. Piano can be removed and played with independently, mat is machine washable. Worth every penny. You will get your money's worth. I definitely think it's worth it! My baby started staring at the toys at 2 months, now at 4 months she still loves it. Our baby is almost 9 months and it's still our go-to when we need to put her somewhere safe and she'll be entertained for a while. She's loved it since day 1. We make up R-rated versions of the songs.

Baby Crack: Addictive Entertainment and Parental Sanity
It's basically my 2 month old's 2nd mother. He looooooves it. It's like baby crack. I can set him on the play mat for 30 minutes and he'll just kick and stare at the lights and toys. It gives me enough time to get stuff done. The songs are catchy but they get stuck in my head for hours. Still worth it though. I think every baby should come with one of these. My 2 month old LOVES it. It's like baby TV. The songs... they are bangers. I find myself humming them while doing dishes. The light up piano is the best part. He kicks it like crazy. I call it the 'neglect-o-mat' because I can set him there and actually make coffee. I'm pretty sure I could recite every song from memory at this point. Still worth it. My baby has loved this since around 6 weeks. The songs are legitimately good. We all sing along. Get it. It lives up to the hype.

New vs. Classic: Version Preferences and Feature Comparisons
We have the new one (Glow and Grow) and our baby likes it. BUT we also have the old one at grandma's and I think baby actually prefers the old one. The songs on the old one are catchier and the toys are simpler. The new one has more features but sometimes less is more. The smart stages are nice but we just leave it on music mode. The lights are cool but not a game changer. I like that the new one has a 'take along' mode where the keyboard detaches but honestly we never take it anywhere. I'd say it's a fine upgrade but if you find the classic version for cheaper, get that one. We have the new Glow and Grow piano. My baby enjoys it but honestly the old one seems more iconic. The songs are different and maybe less catchy. Plus the new one has a weird plasticky smell at first. It's fine. Baby doesn't care. I'd say get whichever is on sale. Same goes for the Skip Hop one - it's cute but nowhere near as engaging. The piano is the real winner here.

Lovevery vs. Fisher-Price: Practicality over Aesthetics
We have both. The Lovevery is beautiful and I wanted to love it, but the Fisher-Price gets way more use. The piano makes all the difference. My baby will lay there for 20+ minutes just kicking and playing. The Lovevery is nice for tummy time pictures but functionally the Fisher-Price wins. It's also cheaper and has more longevity. The piano detaches and becomes a travel toy. My 2.5 year old still plays with the piano part. The Lovevery mat is packed away already. If you only get one, get the Fisher-Price. It's not even close. I know the aesthetic isn't for everyone but your baby doesn't care about beige. They want lights and music. I went with the Fisher-Price despite hating the look of it. No regrets. Baby loves it. I can shower and drink coffee in peace. The mat is machine washable too which is a big plus for spit-up. Lovevery is prettier but Fisher-Price is more practical.

Best Baby Toy: Unrivaled Engagement and Development
The Fisher-Price Kick & Play Piano Gym. Hands down. Nothing else keeps my baby entertained for as long. He started using it at 8 weeks and now at 6 months he still loves it. The piano is genius because it rewards them for kicking which is all they want to do anyway. The dangling toys encourage reaching and grabbing. The mirror is great for tummy time. It's basically a full sensory experience. I've bought it for every new parent I know. It's the one baby item I would never give up. The songs are burned into my brain forever but I'll allow it because they make my baby so happy. 10/10. My baby has used this since day 1 and it's still going strong at 9 months. We've gotten more use out of this than any other toy or gadget. The purple monkey song is a banger. I sing it to her when she's upset and she calms down. This toy is magic. We have a Skip Hop activity center and a bouncer but nothing compares to the piano mat. It's the only thing that consistently works when she's fussy.

Sanity-Saving Purchase: Practical Tips and Endorsements
We got it when my son was 4 weeks old and he didn't care about it at all. I was worried I wasted money. Then around 7-8 weeks he started staring at the lights and now at 3 months he's obsessed. He kicks like crazy and smiles at the dangling toys. My advice is to stick with it even if they seem uninterested at first. We also picked up the piano and used it for tummy time to distract him which helped a lot. It's easily the best $40 we've spent on baby gear. I recommend it to everyone but warn them that the music will haunt their dreams. The mat is easy to clean and we've taken the piano on road trips. My now 2 year old uses the piano as a little keyboard. It just keeps giving. I'd say give it time if your newborn isn't into it right away. It really grows with them. We got ours at 2 weeks and he didn't engage until about 6-7 weeks but now he's a kicking machine. It's great for getting out energy before naps. The songs are annoying in the best way. 100% worth it.
