Regalo gate instability and narrow opening despite affordable price
The construction of the gate was very assembled, it didn't really provide the I was looking for. My came over and one yank it was off. I definitely will pay a little more money now for something more stable. If you are looking for something for less active and pets this would be good... Overall the gate is decent for the price. It was the cheapest one I could find. I bought two: one for the bottom of the stairs and one for the top. They are very sturdy! The one, somewhat significant problem I have with them is the gate door is VERY narrow... The locking mechanism makes it almost impossible to function one handed with a baby in the others... small measurement window where gate won't fit... Because of the base moulding on my wall, the gate would not fit. With the extension it was too wide, without the extension pieces the adjusters were too extended and would buckle out on pressure.

I have a 150cm wide room to block off for my dog... I've been recommended the Regalo Easy Step extra tall gate... It's 36 inches tall and can be pressure mounted. You can get extensions to fit wider openings. Some people use it with a playard setup to make a larger barrier.

Regalo favored over Dreambaby for easy hardware mounting
We tried a couple gates and ended up with Regalo Easy Step. I liked that it can be hardware mounted easily... The Dreambaby gate was a pain to install. The Regalo is tall enough for our big boy and hasn't budged. We used the wall cups and it feels rock solid. Just don't use it at the top of stairs unless it's hardware mounted.

Regalo gate successful for ferret-proofing
After trying a bunch of baby gates we finally found one that our ferrets can't climb or squeeze through. It's the Regalo Easy Step extra tall... The bars are vertical and close together, so they can't get a grip. The walk-through door is convenient for us. We've had it up for months and it's holding strong.

Regalo gate praised for stairs but not top of stairs, narrow door criticized
The good: sturdy, affordable, easy to install with pressure mount. The bad: the door is so narrow, I can't walk through with my baby in my arms; I have to open it, walk through sideways, then close it behind me. The ugly: the bottom bar on stairs is a trip hazard and it's not supposed to be used at the top of stairs anyway. I use it at the bottom of the stairs and for my dog. One person had a gate arrive with parts not soldered, so quality control may be an issue.
