I love this booster harness!

Jade P.

I love this booster harness! My daughter is so happy with this car seat. She tells me it’s so comfortable and it’s her new favorite! Simple installation and love how lightweight the car seat is. It’s wider than most boosters so I definitely feel like there’s plenty of space to grow!

Needed a new car seat

Love this fits my 4 yr old perfectly

Pretty decent purchase

Isabel G.

This car seat fits my toddler well. I wish the 5-point harness was able to be used longer (40 pound max), but other than that it’s good!

This seat is easy to

Amanda H.

This seat is easy to install and light weight. My biggest complaint is that the harness weight limit is quite small. Maine law states a child needs to be in a 5 point harness until 55lbs. This seat requires a transition to the booster mode at 40lbs. I know the Sonus has a weight limit of 65lbs but d...

highThe seat makes a poorbelt-positioning booster; shoulder belt fit is often incorrect.
mediumEvenflo's past safety controversies and recalls have shaken consumer trust, even for unrelated models.
lowStraps may twist easily and cup holders can detach, leading to frustration.

Community Q&A

Is the Evenflo Chase LX FAA approved for air travel?
Yes, it is FAA approved when used in the 5-point harness mode.
Is the Evenflo Chase LX safe as a high-back booster?
No, many users and expert reviews say the belt fit in booster mode is poor and it should be avoided for that purpose.
Does the Evenflo Chase LX have a low harness weight limit issue?
Yes, the 40-pound harness limit is problematic because many children outgrow the harness by weight before they are tall or mature enough for the booster mode.

Compared To

vs Cosco High Back Booster

The Chase has a similar lightweight form factor but a higher 40-pound harness limit compared to Cosco's 14" top slots, making it a better travel option for older toddlers.

vs Evenflo Generations 65

The Generations 65 is preferred over the Chase due to its 65-pound harness limit, though it costs more.

Source Threads

  • Evenflo Chase considered as lightweight travel seat replacement for Cosco HBB

Based on some VERY preliminary research, I thought perhaps the Evenflo Chase would work well. I checked it out at BRU yesterday and it was of a similar form/weight as the HBB... I know there are bad things about the Chase, but given the limited use, is it still a bad choice? ... The Chase is a decent 40# harnessed FFing seat. It is a lousy booster... Your child only has 4.5 pounds to gain before hitting the harness max... I'd go for the Evenflo Generations 65.

  • Evenflo booster seats criticized for putting profits over child safety

Evenflo booster seats put profits over child safety... The Chase LX is mentioned as part of Evenflo's lineup that faced criticism for marketing seats that don't provide adequate protection in booster mode. Many parents expressed distrust of the brand.

  • Discussion on booster seat choices, including Evenflo Chase, highlighting low harness weight and poor booster mode

I have an Evenflo Chase and hate it. The straps twist, the chest clip is hard to move, and the crotch buckle is shallow. As a booster, the belt fit is terrible. I would not recommend this seat. The 40lb harness limit is a dealbreaker for many; kids outgrow it before they're ready for a booster.

  • Evenflo booster seat safety concerns and brand distrust discussed by parents

After the reports about Evenflo putting profits over children's safety, I won't buy any Evenflo seats. The Big Kid booster was the main focus, but I'd be cautious with all their products, including the Chase.

  • Evenflo Chase safety concerns raised in response to broader Evenflo booster seat controversy

Important read on car seat safety: Evenflo maker of the Big Kid booster seat puts profits over child safety. This applies to all their booster seats, including the Chase LX, because they have similar design philosophies. The 40-pound harness limit is a major safety gap.

  • Evenflo Chase still recommended for its portability and price, despite known flaws

I'd still recommend the Evenflo Chase for travel because it's so light and cheap. Just know it won't last as a harnessed seat, and you'll need another booster later. Installation is easy, but watch out for twisted straps and the cup holders falling off. It's a decent travel option if you manage expectations.
