Source Threads

  • Frustration with Safety 1st gate's one-handed operation

I want to smash my Safety 1st Lift, Lock and Swing gate with a hammer. If they advertised it as a one-handed operation gate they must be assuming the user has three hands. The Munchkin gate is much better.

  • Not recommended for top of stairs due to locking issues

We have this one at the top of our stairs. I haaaaaate it. It’s so hard to open with one hand when I’m carrying the baby. I have to use two hands to get it to lock properly. I would not recommend it.

  • Locking mechanism and adjustment struggles

I have this exact gate and it’s been nothing but trouble. The locking mechanism is a nightmare. Half the time I can’t get it to lock into place, and adjusting the width is a huge pain. The buttons never seem to line up right. I’ve been using it for over a year and still fight with it daily.
