Owlet Dream Duo Gen 2 Smart Baby Monitor Bundle with Sock & Cam (Mint)
The Owlet Dream Duo Gen 2 is a smart baby monitor bundle combining a wearable sock sensor (Dream Sock) and a video camera (Owlet Cam 2). It tracks an infant's live pulse rate, oxygen saturation, and sleep trends, alerting caregivers via the included Base Station and app when readings fall outside preset ranges. The FDA-cleared sock is intended for healthy babies 1–18 months (6–30 lbs), and the camera offers 1080p HD video, two-way audio, night vision, and room temperature/humidity monitoring. Reddit users commonly cite reduced anxiety from real-time vitals, but note potential connectivity issues (camera requires 2.4GHz Wi-Fi) and occasional false alarms from sock slippage.

- Yes, false alarms can occur if the sock is loose or baby moves, but they are relatively rare and often caused by fit issues.

Compared To
vs Eufy Smart Sock
Eufy is often mentioned as a cheaper alternative with similar functionality, though some note it has its own false alarm issues.
vs Nanit
Nanit is compared as a video-only monitor without vital tracking, but can pair with Owlet sock.

Owlet Dream Sock for newborn anxiety relief
I have owlet, it gave me peace of mind. But it is expensive. While shopping for my second baby I came across the following. It is $99 on amazon and people are swearing by it. ParentsLevana Oma Sense Portable Baby Breathing Movement Monitor with… I prefer a monitor that doesn’t use wifi.. but the sock is something I will absolutely have to have if I am ever going to be able to sleep once baby comes home. I had a hospital grade pulse ox with my first born bc he came home on oxygen (the hospital grade one had more false alarms from baby moving around than the owlet did imho) and the peace of mind that I would be woken if baby needed me was the only way I got any rest.

Owlet for postpartum anxiety and alternatives
We used the eufy smart sock s340 with my first, and will use it again with this baby. It works like the owlet does and tracks sleep, heart rate and oxygen. It gave me such peace of mind. It alerted me right away when my baby's heart rate dropped (all the way to 60!) and I was able to rouse her and get her heart rate back up. We have a kardia ekg monitor and we were able to confirm with that that her heart rate was indeed at 60 and the eufy sock wasn't giving a false reading. Sometimes the monitor would tell me that the sock wasn't worn correctly, but we figured out that it was actually due to baby's poor circulation, and putting a sock on over the smart sock fixed the problem. The eufy sock has been amazing for our family, and it's a better price than the owlet.

Owlet Dream Duo technical glitches and sleep tracking
We absolutely love our owlet sock. I recommend it to everyone having a baby. I had severe PPA and it helped me sleep at night. My sons are 2 & 4 and we still use the sock when they are sick. We had bought the extension sock before they discontinued it thankfully. My oldest is immunocompromised so when he’s sick he’s SICK and being able to track his o2 and heart rate gives me so much peace of mind. Now the camera is a different story. I didn’t have too many issues with it at first but we got a new router and all of a sudden they won’t attach or will and then randomly unattach. They only work with 2.4 WiFi which is super frustrating because everything these days is 5. So the camera is a hit and miss but the sock is 1000% worth every penny in my opinion.

Owlet Dream Duo worth for specific family situation
I’m considering getting this but it’s $400 and don’t want to waste money. With my first I had a lot of anxiety so maybe the $400 will be worth it for peace of mind, assuming the little sock actually works and monitors the baby? Any suggestions? I got the owlet sock. It works with other baby monitors too. So if you have another monitor you may not need to spring for the whole dream duo and could get away with just the sock. I have heard a lot of people say having the owlet helped their anxiety. So if it provides you some relief it’s probably worth it! Someone gave us their Nanit which seems to work with the owlet.

Final warning about Owlet baby monitor value
Overall this is a great product. We have heard great things about these and so far it has not disappointed! PROS: monitor heart rate, oxygen, sleep patterns. CONS: minor annoyances with setup but nothing major. I think this is worth it for peace of mind, especially for first time parents. We compared to Eufy and Nanit but went with Owlet due to FDA clearance. However, some parents say the camera has connectivity issues and the sock can slip causing false alarms. Still, the vital tracking is unmatched.
