It’s not as safe as a traditional forward facing harnessed car seat. But if the choice is between airplane seatbelt alone and the ridesafer vest I’d choose the vest... it’s impossible to get into a pretzel-like position and that’s what’s dangerous for a kid in just a seatbelt. For car ride safety, I want my kid anchored to the car as firmly as possible, so again, for that I’d go for a traditional 5 point harnessed seat.

Used it for my 3 yo. Great for travel - Taxis, ubers, rental car. A traditional seat is way safer but it’s a million times better than nothing. My kid was comfortable and fell asleep in it but he’s not a car sleeper so not an issue for us.

We bought it for our just-turned 3 year old for a trip. He was 37 inches and 36 lbs. It worked well – we took Lyfts. He fell asleep in it once and the tether was awesome because it kept him upright... We had trouble with the buckle but it’s because I didn’t read the manual well enough before the first use. Once we got the hang of it, it was easy.
