I had this one with my first baby. You do want it firm. It would unsafe to add anything else. I bought some sheets on Amazon and they fit great. I liked being able to bring it with when we went to other peoples houses Or overnights elsewhere. We had a curious kitty, so we would zip baby in so the cat couldn’t jump in there. I didn’t like how the zipper sometimes woke baby up.

I’m obsessed with my Dream on Me Karley bassinet. It’s exactly like a pack and play but for a bassinet. It folds up super easy and takes up zero space. My baby sleeps great in it.

Sheet recommendations for the Karley bassinet mattress
I found that the Dream On Me 3 inch portable mini crib mattress sheets which are for a 24 x 38 mattress fit really well on my Karley Bassinet mattress! They look just like the picture, I just put them on a little snug. ... I have this bassinet and the mattress is really thin, but I just put the same fitted sheets I use for my changing table on it. My advice would be to measure your mattress .. ours is like 32 x 16? and then buy sheets that are for a mattress that size... the Bassinet sheets all said they'd fit a mattress up to 18 x 36 but mine were way too big/loose and I had to return them... you can also find some on ali express for half the cost of Amazon but they'll take 6-8 weeks to arrive.

Warning about accidental folding if not zipped
It's not bad except for one thing - you have to zip it up each time you use it. If you don't, it can fold up on itself. It's never folded on my baby but I could see the potential and it's scary
