Safety 1st Ellaris 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat (London Blue)
The Safety 1st Ellaris 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat is a lightweight, FAA-approved convertible seat designed for rear-facing infant (5–30 lbs), rear-facing toddler (30–40 lbs), and forward-facing (30–65 lbs) use. Its slim 17-inch profile allows three-across installation in most vehicles, with a 5-position adjustable headrest, hook-style LATCH, and machine-washable seat pad. While budget-friendly and travel-friendly, it has minimal padding and an upright recline that may be uncomfortable for infants, and seatbelt installation can be challenging.

- Can it fit three across in a car?
- Yes, its slim design allows it to fit three across in many vehicles, though seatbelt installation may be tricky.

Compared To
vs Cosco Scenera Next
The Ellaris is heavier and bulkier but has higher limits and is FAA approved; the Scenera is lighter but with lower height/weight limits.
vs Baby Trend Trooper
Trooper is recommended for easy installation with rigid LATCH, but Ellaris is lighter for travel. Both are budget options with minimal padding.
vs Swivel car seats (Safety 1st Turn? Or Graco Turn2Me)
Swivel seats are more convenient for loading but more expensive and heavier; Ellaris is simpler and cheaper.

Safety 1st All-in-One experiences and recommendations
We have the Safety 1st All-in-One (Ellaris) and it's okay. It's definitely cheaply made and not super plush, but it's narrow and works for three across. Install with seatbelt was a nightmare, LATCH is much easier. I wouldn't use it for a newborn because of the recline and little padding, but for an older toddler it's fine as a secondary seat.

Ellaris for flight travel comparison
The Safety 1st Ellaris is FAA approved and light enough for travel. It's heavier than a Cosco Scenera but has higher limits. For a flight, both are fine, but the Ellaris might be easier to install on the plane because of the belt path. It's also more comfy for longer trips. I'd use it as a travel seat and then a spare.

Ellaris vs. swivel seats for convenience
I got the Safety 1st Ellaris after considering swivel seats. It's very basic, no bells and whistles. The recline is pretty upright even on the most reclined setting for rear-facing. My 5-month-old looked so uncomfortable I ended up returning it. For an older kid maybe, but for babies it's not great.

Ellaris vs. Baby Trend Trooper for travel and budget
Between the Baby Trend Trooper and Safety 1st Ellaris for a travel seat, I'd pick the Ellaris because it's lighter and FAA approved. The Trooper has rigid LATCH which is nice for your main car, but for travel the Ellaris is simpler. It's cheap and a bit flimsy, but it does the job for a travel seat or occasional use.
