Amazing

Joalys S.

We love the set, so beautiful

Love it!

Carmen B.

🤍 It makes mealtime feel so grown up while still being totally toddler friendly. The plates don’t slide everywhere, the utensils feel like real silverware, and cleanup is super easy. Stylish, practical, and perfect for little ones learning to eat on their own. A win for parents and toddlers!

Nice colour for the food

Erina M.

I bought this for 2 years old son. This set is gorgeous, looks like an adult dinner set. I don't like bright fluorescent colour dish so this is also good for me! I wish the cup lid has some kind of stopper.

Awesome set

Lisa M.

This is the cutest set! Quality and classy yet still cute enough that toddlers look forward to using it. Very durable. Love Munchkin products!

Reddit parents have mixed experiences with Munchkin straw cups, praising their ability to teach straw drinking but frequently complaining about leaks, difficulty sucking, and cleaning challenges.

mixed sentiment90% match

While some parents appreciate the cups for teaching straw drinking, the overwhelming complaints about leaks, hard-to-suck valves, and tricky assembly tilt the overall sentiment slightly negative.

Use Cases

  • Teaching babies to drink from a straw
  • Transitioning from breastfeeding to cup

Watch Out For

mediumThe straw contains a valve that makes sucking very difficult for some babies, especially those still breastfeeding.
highLeaking is common if the lid isn't clicked into place or if there's temperature-induced pressure.
mediumReplacement parts are advertised but hard to find; cleaning the straw thoroughly is difficult and mold can develop.

Community Q&A

Why does my Munchkin straw cup leak?
Leaks often result from pressure buildup, incorrect assembly, or temperature differences. Ensure the lid clicks shut, the straw valve is fully seated, and release pressure if using cold liquids.
How can I make it easier for my baby to drink from the Munchkin straw cup?
You can cut the valve inside the straw to ease suction, but this may compromise spill-proofness. Alternatively, try different straw cups like Dr. Brown's.
How do I clean the Munchkin straw cup properly?
Use hot water and a pipe cleaner for the straw; the included brush is insufficient. Some parents replace straws periodically due to mold concerns.

  • Leaking issues and difficult suction with Munchkin straw cup

I find the water pushes out through the top of the straw. So after I fill the cup with water and close the lid, I always turn it upside down to get the water out of the straw before giving it to little one. I returned mine. they were so hard for my little one to drink from. we found the mama bear ones to be much better

  • Concerns about oral development and recommendation to avoid Munchkin straw cups

Feeding Littles now discourages use of Munchkin's straw cup because it's 'not ideal for oral development and can cause issues with speech and feeding skills later on.' They recommend straw cups that don't require biting to activate, like the Dr. Brown's straw cup.

  • Difficulty transitioning breastfed baby to Munchkin straw cup

Our LO got the hang of the Munchkin Straw Cups faster than the ezpz straw cup... I've been using the stage 1 playtex sipster straw cup... I think they have to bite and suck at same time? Anyways, I've found this playtex one you don't need to bite, just suck, and it is leak proof too.

  • Munchkin straw cups constantly overflowing due to pressure

They overflow constantly! One trick is to not tighten them all the way, leave them a tiny bit loose. Or release the pressure by unscrewing the lid slightly after filling. Some dads switched to Zak straw cups as an alternative.

  • Mold issues in Munchkin straw cups and cleaning difficulties

Munchkin straw cups are notorious for mold in the straw and valve. The little brush they give you doesn't cut it. We ended up buying a pipe cleaner set and replace them every few months.
