I have a couple of the North States gates. They’re the ones made from recycled plastic. Really easy to put up, no tools, just squeeze the handle and you’re done. For the price they’re great—don’t expect fortress levels of security but they keep my 18-month-old corralled. Only issue is if they’re not SUPER tight, my kiddo can rattle them open. Also, if you have baseboards that stick out a lot, you might need to shim them or get the extra wall cups. I like that they’re recycled though, makes me feel less guilty about the plastic.

Renew gate recommendation with caveats about baseboards and pets
We’ve been using the Toddleroo Renew gate for our hallway and it’s been okay. The green color is nice and the recycled plastic feels solid enough. Installation is a breeze, literally one lever. But I’ll say, if your doorframe has tall baseboards (ours are like 4 inches), the gate can be finicky and might not sit flush. We ended up getting a different mount. Also, we have a 30lb dog and he can nudge it open if we don’t crank it down. For just a baby, it’s fine. I’d recommend it for light duty use.
