  • NPD: Ernie Ball VP Jr Volume Pedal - MVP comparison

I see that the VP Jr is the 'industry standard' of non-boutique volume pedals. The MVP seems to have a large footprint and needs power, but has a minimum volume and gain control to help sweeten the deal. [...] I definitely think it's worth it for the extra features and benefits. [...] I mean, the MVP is the same footprint as the VPJr. For thirty extra bucks its a no brainier. I went from a VPJr to a MVP and its a major upgrade. Just being able to use the tuner out without cutting my signal strength in half makes it worth it.

  • Any concerns about Ernie Ball MVP?

I don't think the MVP works passively... could be wrong. It is the same size as the VPJr., and the buffer works really well in my rig. Other than using it for 0-full swells, the cool thing about the minimum gain thing, you can put it in front of a really dynamic OD and have the minimum setting be just breaking up (rhythm) then rock the pedal forward for lead tones.

  • Ernie Ball MVP taper issue

I've just purchased the announced Ernie Ball Most Valuable Pedal (MVP). Everything looks promising with it, the active circuitry (buffer-boost), etc, but I'm unhappy with its response! Complaint: The potentiometer taper. All the increase-decrease in volume (at least the most noticeable part) happens only in the first portion on the rocker pedal. The rest of the rocker travel is useless until it reaches zero sound.

  • Ernie Ball MVP reliability issues

I bought the Ernie Ball MVP, played shows for two weeks, and the pot broke. Not the string, the actual pot. I absolutely love Ernie Ball but I'm inclined to think this is a design flaw. I know three people that have had the same problem.
