Absolutely do not use a pressure-mounted gate at the top of stairs. You need a hardware-mounted gate there. They can be pushed over and it's a major fall risk. The Regalo is popular for doorways though.

Frustration with latch and pressure mount at stairs
The latch on our Regalo has gotten really sticky over time. I have to use two hands to open it now. And no way would I put this at the top of stairs—way too wobbly without wall cups screwed in.

Positive review but minor quality issues
We've had the Regalo Easy Step for about 6 months. Easy to install, does the job. The dog hasn't gotten through. The white finish is a little cheap-looking up close, but okay. My only gripe is the latch gets finicky sometimes.
