Use Cases

  • Primary infant car seat from birth, especially for urban parents who carry the seat frequently
  • Travel system with UPPAbaby strollers (Vista, Cruz, Minu)
  • Secondary or short-term seat before transitioning to a convertible
  • Ride-share and airplane travel (baseless installation)

Watch Out For

mediumDespite official weight/height limits, many babies outgrow the seat by height or comfort well before 12 months, often around 6-9 months.
mediumInstallation can be frustrating, especially the LATCH ratcheting system and leveling; some users never achieve a perfectly stable install.
lowThe seat is so light that some parents find it difficult to carry with a heavier baby inside, counterintuitively.
mediumMinimal padding and narrow seat may cause discomfort for chunkier babies, leading to crying and early transition.

Community Q&A

How long does the Aria V2 last before the baby outgrows it?
Many parents report outgrowing between 6-9 months, especially for taller babies, though official limits are 30 lbs and 30 inches.
Is the Aria V2 easy to install?
Mixed. Some find the SmartSecure system straightforward; others struggle with the LATCH tightening and leveling, but baseless installation can be easier.
Is the Aria V2 worth the price over other infant seats?
It’s worth it for the ultra-lightweight design and UPPAbaby stroller compatibility, but consider if you prioritize longevity and cushioning over weight.
Can the Aria V2 be used for air travel?
Yes, it’s FAA certified and features European belt routing for baseless installation, making it airplane and ride-share friendly.

Compared To

vs Chicco KeyFit 30

Aria is significantly lighter (6 lbs vs 9.5 lbs), but Chicco may offer better comfort and longer usability.

vs Evenflo Revolve 360 Slim

Aria is used as an infant seat before switching to a rotating convertible; the Aria is outgrown quickly in some cases.

vs Clek Liing

Some parents consider the Clek Liing as a longer-lasting infant seat alternative if the Aria is outgrown too fast.

vs UPPAbaby Mesa V2

Aria V2 is lighter and more portable than Mesa V2, but installation may be trickier and crash test scores are similar.

  • Aria V1 quick outgrowing experience and comparison

We had an Aria v1 and she grew out of it really fast due to design flaws(she’s not a small baby but not huge). She is still nowhere near the limits on paper but was really uncomfortable. Hopefully the V2 is much better, but based on my experience I probably will go with a different infant seat for our second baby, thinking maybe Clek Liing. I would really like to keep the second baby in the infant seat to 12 months at least, hopefully longer.

  • Love for the lightweight design and stroller system

I have the UB Aria and love it. It’s so light. I also love the sunshade in it. My baby is 4 months and currently 80th percentile in weight (almost 16lbs) and 95th in height (25 in), and was 9lbs at birth. I think we have probably 2 more months we can use it! And honestly, I can’t imagine using it longer than that outside of a car setting. She prefers either being held or the rumble seat to the car seat anyway. We also have a Doona that was gifted to use. It is useful in certain situations, but is SO heavy. I almost can’t use it without my husband to lift it into the car. We have the Cruz 2 stroller and love it as well. The connection points are really easy to use. We are looking at the Minu for something slimmer as she gets older.

  • CPST perspective on Aria V2 installation and safety features

The easiest installation for the Aria is without the base. This might make it an attractive seat for those who plan to carry it in urban environments, using public transportation or ride-sharing. While this is the easiest method, it is still average. LATCH installation for the Aria is not as easy as it could be. Studies indicate that properly installing the seat using LATCH can be challenging. The ratcheting makes it harder to tighten and level the base, and our indicator changed colors long before the seat was tight enough. It didn't feel very stable when installed, even with the load leg and anti-rebound device.

  • Positive feedback on lightweight and easy clean, with installation note

Also recommend the aria! It’s super lightweight, easy to clean and install. I have the Aria V1, we got ours before the V2 was released. We have had no issues with the V1 and use it with the uppababy minu travel stroller (love this stroller too). I believe the new V2 features allow the car seat to be used a little longer than the V1 (worth confirming I’m not mistaken), but I’ve been seeing the V1 on sale recently for a great price! Both are great choices, having a lightweight newborn car seat is amazing for pp recovery and when the baby gets heavier over time haha.

  • Comfort issues with Aria, switching to Chicco

We use the aria at first because it came with the travel system that my mother-in-law gave us. But she was very uncomfortable with that, would cry all the time and while I’d like that it had the stroller attachment, which made it convenient, we rarely used that. We use the bassinet instead. We wound up getting when she turned about four months to the Chicco fit 360, it’s a bigger seat, but she is so comfortable and so happy.

  • Quick outgrowing feedback and transition timeline

We started with an uppa baby aria (smaller and lighter) and recently I got a Evenflo Revolve 360 slim to move behind the passenger seat since she's grown out of the last one. My wife is 5'5 or so and with the car seat behind her it is a little tight, so we don't like to take long trips in the WRX. So just being honest here about expectations, it's not going to be a everything vehicle. We started with the Aria, but she outgrew it faster than expected, though exact timeline not specified, it was in the first year.
