I don't think they're necessary. I used a bouncer with my first and now with my second. The sit me up seats can put baby in a position they aren't ready for and delay sitting skills. I have the Ingenuity one and it's great. It folds flat, has a tray, and straps to a chair. More of a portable high chair than a floor seat. The Bright Starts one is more of a floor seat, not really for feeding. Depends what you need.

We have the Bright Starts Learn to Sit and my 5 month old loves it. The toys keep her entertained and it's easy to move around. I use it when I shower or cook, just for short periods. It folds up small too. Definitely recommend.
