Recommendation for Summer Infant gate for wide openings and stair use
I have 2 kids (4yo & 2yo) and a 110lb dog. I went through a few gates and this one is the best: Summer Infant Multi-Use Extra Tall Walk-Thru Gate. It’s super sturdy, fits extra wide openings (mine is 47” wide), and I mounted it at the top of my stairs with hardware. It’s a little heavy and installation can be a bit tricky, but once it’s up, it’s rock solid. The auto-close and one-hand open work great, and my kids can’t climb it because it’s too tall.

Endorsement of Summer Infant gate for large openings and ease of use
I have the Summer Infant Multi-Use Deco Extra Tall gate in bronze. It’s great for wide openings, I have it in my 42” doorway. It’s tall and my 2 year old can’t open it or climb over it. It was a little tricky to install because it looked bent at first, but once I tightened the pressure mounts correctly, it was perfect. I also have the munchkin version for an even wider opening but this one is sturdier and looks nicer.
