highThe base can be difficult to install securely, especially on leather or angled seats; some users report the base moving up/down or side-to-side even when tightened.
mediumThe seat may be too long for compact cars, forcing front seats to be moved forward significantly.

Community Q&A

Is the Maxi-Cosi Mico 30 base easy to install?
It can be difficult; some users find the LATCH system doesn't get tight enough, causing the base to move, and installation may vary by vehicle seat type.

Compared To

vs Nuna Pipa

Nuna is often considered higher quality with easier base installation, but pricier; Maxi-Cosi is lighter and more budget-friendly but base issues are noted.

vs Graco

Graco is seen as easier to install and more universal, while Maxi-Cosi may be lighter and more stylish.

vs Cybex Aton M

Cybex has a load leg for extra safety and may be preferred if budget allows, but Maxi-Cosi is still considered a good, safe option when properly installed.

  • Comparison between Maxi-Cosi Mico 30 and Cybex Aton M

The maxi cosi is a good car seat and has lasted me through two babies. i have nothing bad to say about it... I've seen some comments about the Maxi Cosi not being 'safe' enough... The one complaint I have about the mico is the interior gets narrower the closer it gets to the top. LO's shoulders started getting squished around 6 months... I'd go with Cybex. I just attended a tech conference and learned more about load legs. They make a big safety difference.

  • Endorsement or discouragement of Maxi-Cosi

however this base is aweful and to properly secure on forward facing side of the base. The side with the anchor is secure but the front side can lift almost a foot off the seat which I would think would be very unsafe... This base came and honestly, it feels so cheap and dangerous. No matter what you do, the base doesn't feel secure.

  • Lightweight and easy base, but some fit and compatibility issues

We had a Chicco and decided to go with this... the base installation was easier than the Chicco base! I also really liked how light the car seat is as well! Only minor complaint is the canopy... This rear facing infant car seat is much larger than my husbands Camaro can handle... In comparison to the Graco Connect that I have I prefer the Graco over the Maxi-Cosi Mico 30 simply because of compatibility ease... it does move up/down by more than 1inch... I know this is fine by safety standards but doesn't seem fully reassuring.

  • Lightweight and travel-friendly, but short usage period

We used the maxi Cosi infant car seat as a travel car seat and it worked great... they are both light and very easy to install with just a seat belt and don't require a base... Our infant seat is MC and I got it for $280 during a sale a couple years ago. So price and the fact that the seat was light were big selling features. Our daughter (and our arms lol) were happier when we switched her to a convertible seat around 6 months.

  • Comparison between Nuna and Maxi-Cosi, value for money

I'm looking into these infant two car seats as I want something compatible with the stroller, lightweight... Does anyone have either of these infant car seats and can provide pros/cons? ... I did see on several reviews that the Nuna Pippa did not clip in as great as other brands on the indie twin... but I have a maxi cosi convertible seat for our toddler and we really like it!
