This allows for easier sterilization of other items in addition to bottles such as toys; there is more room. In addition to bottles, I sterilized pacifiers, toys, and bath toys. The only negative is that the top compartment has a flip-back lid. After sterilization, the condensation runs off the lid that’s hanging open and onto the counter.
