I am a CPST and would personally not buy it due to the failed crash testing CR data. But we have a Graco 4Ever that we travel with, it SO heavy. You might want to ask in some CPST Facebook groups for suggestions. I would not buy a Baby Trend seat under any circumstances, personally.

What do we think of the Baby Trend brand?
My premature son who is 2 years old (actual age) is currently in a Nuna Rava, but his mother and I are expecting twins. We need to fit three car seats across in her vehicle, and the baby trend is noticeably narrower than the Rava.

Baby Trend Trooper vs Safety 1st Ellaris for travel
The Baby Trend Trooper is 4-40 lbs rear-facing vs the Ellaris which is 4-50 lbs rear-facing. So the Ellaris allows extended rear-facing. The Trooper is lighter and easier to travel with though.

Travel car seat rear facing for 3yr old
We have the Baby Trend Trooper which we use exclusively for travel because it is so lightweight. It installed easily on the plane with the belt path and fit well. For road trips, we use it as a spare seat.
