Fisher-Price Sit-Me-up Floor Seat with Tray (Puppy Perfection)
The Fisher-Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat is an infant seat with a wide, sturdy base that helps babies who can sit with support to practice sitting upright. It features a removable, dishwasher-safe snack tray, a plush headrest for comfort, and two linkable toys including a BPA-free teether and clacker. The seat folds flat for storage and travel, and some physical therapists recommend it for short, supervised use (e.g., feeding or containment during chores) with proper positioning to support hip development.

Reddit Insights
4 threads · r/NewParents, r/BabyBumps, r/beyondthebumpReddit's sentiment is mixed: while many parents and some physical therapists approve of the Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat for short, supervised use, others raise concerns about hip posture and the importance of unrestricted floor time.
Opinions are divided; positive experiences with moderate use contrast with PT warnings about container use and developmental impact.
Themes
Use Cases
- Containment during parental chores (e.g., cooking, bathroom breaks)
- Feeding first solid foods
- Playtime and entertainment for short periods
- Building sitting confidence (though not a replacement for floor time)
Watch Out For
Community Q&A
- Is the seat safe for hip development?
- With moderate use (max 20 min at a time) and proper positioning (e.g., rolled towel under seat), it can be safe, but always prioritize free floor time.
- What age is appropriate?
- Around 4 months with good head control, though babies outgrow it quickly once they learn to sit independently (around 5-6 months).
- Does it help babies learn to sit?
- It does not teach sitting; it merely supports them. Tummy time and free movement are essential for building core strength.
Compared To
vs UpSeat
Often compared; UpSeat is considered more ergonomic and PT-preferred but more expensive and some find it less sturdy.
vs Bumbo
Generally considered worse for hip positioning; PTs recommend avoiding Bumbo.
vs Ingenuity version
Mentioned as a cheaper alternative to UpSeat.

PT-recommended Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat
They have some other types that keep the baby’s hips/legs positioned better than the bumbo. My sister is a PT and she did some research for me and found one that she said was good for use in moderation. I think it’s Fisher Price. Edit: yes, it’s the Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat. Approved by at least one real physical therapist for moderate use.

PT recommended for correct back/hip position
This is the one that was recommended to me by a physical therapist for correct back/hip position and to encourage them learning to sit independently! Only for moderate use of course, no container is good for frequent use.

Modification tip and cautious use
I have the sit me up seat too. I’ve seen some physical therapists say it’s not the worst option. You can put a rolled up blanket under the seat to fix their posture. ... I personally use the sit me up seat. Mainly for appt’s to keep my crazy crawler contained for a few minutes.

Positive experience at 4 months
I actually bought one for my son when he was 4 months! He absolutely loved it and I fully believed it helped him with his core strength and confidence in sitting up unassisted!
