I got the Graco premium foam mattress and it comes with a waterproof protector that's washable. Just don't wash the inside cover—some older one had fiberglass. New ones are supposed to be safe.

Graco’s waterproof protector is the way to go. Newton is breathable but not waterproof, so you’d need a separate protector anyway. Graco’s comes with a nice fitted one.
