Specifications

All-in-one convertible car seat that grows with your child from infant to big kid, featuring ComfortPlus footrest and QuickFit harness.

This all-in-one convertible car seat is built to grow through 3 stages: rear-facing (5–40 lbs., 19"–40"), forward-facing (30–65 lbs., 34.4"–49"), and belt-positioning booster seat (40–100 lbs., 43.4"–52"). ComfortPlus footrest works in all 3 modes and provides up to 7" of additional leg room in rear-facing mode. For toddlers sitting forward-facing, the ComfortPlus footrest helps kids sit more comfortably and supports shorter, dangling legs. For big kids, ComfortPlus lowers down to act as a comfortable footrest or a place to easily step up into the seat. Machine-washable and dryer-safe seat pad is removable. Two removable, dishwasher-safe cupholders—one fits a two-handle sippy cup as well as snacks. QuickFit harness for easy adjustment of both harness and headrest in one step. 5-point harness with up front adjustment. 3-position recline. Engineered and tested to meet or exceed federal safety standards. Meets federal Side Impact standard.

Community Q&A

Is the Safety 1st Grow and Go all-in-one easy to install?
Mixed; some find it easy while others struggle with belt tightening and recline adjustment.
Does the seat work well for tall vehicles?
It's deep, making it hard to load a child in high vehicles, and the recline can be stiff.
Is the seat comfortable for long trips?
Cushioning is good, but dangling legs in forward-facing mode are a complaint; the Extend 'n Ride footrest addresses this.

  • Mixed opinions on Safety 1st all-in-one, particularly the Extend 'n Ride model

We have the Safety 1st Grow and Go Extend 'n Ride. I like that it has the footrest that extends for rear facing, and I've heard it's good for taller / longer legged kids. It was easy to install. I think I paid $150 for it? So pretty reasonable. My 3 year old is still rear facing and very comfy.

  • Complaints about buckles and strap adjustment on Safety 1st seat

The buckles are hard to buck on umbuckle the chest one wears out quickly. It is hard to adjust the straps It should be a simple push of a button. It is very hard to recline it gets stuck in a position and will not recline when taking in and out of a vehicle. Does not support baby's head. My child is a year old and there's no head support. The only last thing about this car seat is the cushions are very nice and soft. It is a very deep car seat so getting the child in and out is a struggle if you own a high vehicle.

  • Installation struggles with Safety 1st Grow and Go

Installing the Safety 1st using LATCH is not a fun experience... It has hook-style LATCH connectors, a line level of a decal, and no lock-off. These components are lacking compared to the competition, making it hard to install. Installing the Safety 1st using the vehicle belt wasn't the hardest in the group, but it was disappointing... it only just passes the wiggle test.

  • General positive sentiment about Safety 1st value and longevity

I have a Safety 1st all in one car seat. My son is 5 now and has been in it since age 1 and fits him perfectly! I have a great experience with it and it lasted us a long time, but I hear Graco also has good ones
