The Britax Highpoint Backless Booster Seat is a 2-stage belt-positioning booster that converts from a high-back to a backless mode, designed for children transitioning from a harness. It accommodates children weighing 40 to 120 pounds and up to 63 inches tall, with a machine-washable SafeWash cover, a 10-position adjustable headrest, dishwasher-safe cup holders, and a SecureGuard clip for proper seat belt positioning. Reviews indicate the high-back mode offers a solid fit, while the backless mode may have belt fit limitations for some children.

Bouncer worked fine. Was a little worried when it showed up but it was perfectly fine!

The Britax Highpoint backless booster faces significant criticism for poor belt fit in backless mode, though its high-back mode and ease of use receive praise, leading to a mixed overall sentiment.

While the seat is recommended for high-back use and praised for LATCH and ease of cleaning, backless mode is consistently panned for insecure belt positioning, and compatibility with some vehicles is problematic.

  • Britax Highpoint incompatible with Honda CR-V headrests

I bought a britax highpoint booster for my 6.5 year old to use in our Honda CR-V, but I guess I made a mistake because apparently the rear outboard headrests don’t come off or adjust, and the highpoint’s not compatible with headrests.

  • User struggles with belt fit in backless mode

We had some challenges with the belt fit in this mode for this model as well. Without the back on, her bum is positioned much farther back on the seat. This in turn positions the lap belt on her thighs, well away from her hips (and in the IIHS red zone). This is not a good belt fit on this kiddo, so we are thankful that she has quite a bit of growing room in high back mode.

  • High-back mode is recommended, backless not useful

The high back booster mode of the Britax Highpoint/Skyline has been a solid option since it was first released. While we were excited to see this seat available in a 2-stage mode, unfortunately for us the backless booster mode fell a little flat. With none of our models fitting the backless booster mode well, we can’t see a time where the backless booster mode would actually be useable.

  • Fit check reveals improper belt positioning with SecureGuard

The lap belt is too high on the abdomen and the SecureGuard clip is hard to position correctly. Compared to the Chicco KidFit, the Highpoint’s belt fit is much worse.
