We went with the Sealy Flex Cool 2-stage. GREENGUARD Gold certified was important to us. The cover is cotton and supposedly waterproof though we still use a waterproof pad just in case. Fits standard cribs well. Baby seems comfy.

Firmness praised but noted as very hard for infant side
I have the Sealy Flex Cool 2-stage. The infant side is FIRM firm. Like my baby hated it at first but got used to it. Pediatrician said it's safe. Toddler side is plusher. I like that it's not foam because I worry about off-gassing. Much cheaper than Newton.

Mixed feelings on firmness after purchase
We got the Sealy Flex Cool and I felt it was too hard. My son kept rolling to the softer toddler side somehow. In hindsight maybe a foam mattress would have been more comfortable but he's sleeping fine now at 8 months.

Waterproof cover and cooling feature not as impressive
Bought the Sealy Flex Cool because my first baby sweated a lot on a foam mattress. The cooling is just marketing—it's a cotton cover, not actively cooling. The waterproof layer is under the fabric, so if baby spits up or pees, the fabric gets soaked even if the inside stays dry. Still a solid mattress though.

Chosen over Newton and Naturepedic for value and safety
Between Newton, Naturepedic, and Sealy—went with Sealy Flex Cool. Greenguard Gold, 2-stage, and less than half the price. So far no regrets. My 4-month-old sleeps great on the infant side. I also liked that it's made in USA with coils for support instead of all foam.
