Baby Trend Trooper 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat (Grey)
The Baby Trend Trooper 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat is a multi-mode child restraint that converts from rear-facing infant (4–18 lbs) to rear-facing toddler (18–40 lbs) and forward-facing toddler (22–65 lbs). It features a lightweight shell (approx. 10 lbs) and a narrow width (about 17.5 inches) to accommodate three-across seating in most vehicles, with LATCH installation up to 55 lbs, a 5-position shoulder height adjustment, 2-position crotch buckle, rear-facing recline flip foot, deep side-impact wings, premium cushioning, and two integrated cup holders. This seat is commonly used for air travel and tight vehicle installations due to its low weight and slim profile, though users note the rear-facing recline may require a rolled towel for proper angle and the harness adjustment can be finicky.

Baby Trend Trooper 3-in-1 Car Seat Discussion on CPST
Looking for a narrow seat for 3-across in a Honda Civic... The Trooper is one of the narrowest on the market at about 17 inches wide. It's lightweight and cheap, but I struggled with the harness adjuster... It's hard to get tight. Also, the rear-facing recline is pretty upright; my 6 month old's head flopped forward. I ended up using a pool noodle to get a better angle.

Trooper vs Ellaris for 3-Across on CPST
I'm deciding between the Baby Trend Trooper and Safety 1st Ellaris for 3-across in a CR-V. The Trooper is definitely narrower—I measured it at 17.5 inches at the widest versus the Ellaris at 19 inches. But I read that the harness adjustment is more finicky on the Trooper. I went with the Trooper because of the width, and it fits, but I dread adjusting the harness height.

Travel Car Seat Recommendation on beyondthebump
I recommend the Baby Trend Trooper for travel. It's super light (about 10 lbs) and easy to carry through the airport. We used it on a plane and it fit well forward-facing. Rear-facing was a bit more upright but still okay for our 1-year-old. Better than the Cosco Scenera because it lasts longer rear-facing.

Convertible Travel Car Seat Recommendations on NewParents
We bought the Baby Trend Trooper specifically for travel and it's been great. It's inexpensive (under $100) and very lightweight. Installation is straightforward once you learn the tricks—tightening the harness can be a bit annoying, but it's secure. We've gate-checked it multiple times and it's held up well.
