r/daddit: General baby gate frustrations and preference for Summer Infant aesthetics
We bought this for the top of the stairs. We also bought the universal mounting kit. Overall, it did exactly what we wanted. The only minor inputs would be: the mountaing kit assumes columns with out bases, therefore, we had to cut one side short so it would fit above the rectangular base; doing that caused the gate to be too high for the support thing which now dangled in mid air. All that said, even without the support leg down, the gate worked very well. Add to the fact that it's the only one found after a very long search, can't do better at all.
r/BabyBumpsCanada: Recommendation for top-of-stairs gate, Summer Infant praised for sturdiness but latch criticized
I already had one... It was either too big with the extension or too small without it. One good thing I can say is the Quality of the gate is good but bottom line it's not functional for me. Not only was this a pain to install, opening and closing it is a complete pain. But after what felt like 10 holes in the wall, it's staying. Lining up the bottom of the gate with the metal track is impossible with one hand. So no can do when carrying baby.
r/NewDads: Summer Infant wood gate recommended for looks and durability over other brands
Summer infant wooden gate. It's pressure mounted but has been great for us. Looks nice and is extremely sturdy. https://a.co/d/gLLzS72
r/BabyBumpsCanada: Mixed review of Summer Infant gate, noting tripping hazard and installation woes
I put it on the stairs. When I go up or down and holding a baby it's not comfortable because I have to be very careful he is not getting hurt from the sides of the gate or myself. I already got a blue mark on my behind from the plastic that sticks out that says warning. We initially purchased two of them but had to return one because it would t fit properly. It was either too big with the extension or two small without it.
