Community Q&A

Is the Safety 1st Grow and Go easy to install?
Installation can be difficult; many users report it requires a lot of force to tighten properly, especially with LATCH. Using a towel or pool noodle may help with recline angle.
How does it fit in small cars?
The compact design generally works well in smaller vehicles, but rear-facing can still limit front passenger legroom in very tight cars.
Is it a good long-term seat?
It covers three modes (rear-facing, forward-facing, booster) but may not last as long as pricier seats like Graco 4Ever, especially in booster mode due to lower height limits.

Compared To

vs Graco 4Ever

Graco 4Ever is seen as easier to install, more durable, and lasting longer (backless booster mode), but costs roughly twice as much. Safety 1st is a solid budget alternative.

vs Evenflo Revolve360

Evenflo's swivel feature is highly praised for ease of loading, but it is much more expensive and bulkier. Some prefer Safety 1st for its slim design and lower price.

vs Chicco NextFit

Chicco NextFit is considered easier to install and has higher quality materials, but Safety 1st wins on price and compactness.

  • Budget-friendly and compact, but installation quirks persist

I have two Safety 1st seats. They are great for the price. Easy to clean, cup holders are nice. Installation is a pain in the ass though. We also have a Graco 4Ever in our other car and it’s way easier to install but double the price. Overall I’d recommend if you are on a budget.

  • Swivel feature vs. slim design: a trade-off

We have the Evenflo Revolve 360 and love it ... but it is bulky and expensive. I was looking at Safety 1st slim seats for our smaller car because they are supposed to be more compact.

  • Safe, cheap, and compact, but installation not as easy as Chicco

I got the Safety 1st Grow and Go. It’s safe (passed all the tests), cheap, and compact. The only downside is that it’s not as easy to install as the Chicco NextFit, but it’s a fraction of the price.

  • Specific concern: fitting in a small car with limited legroom

I have a tiny car and need a convertable seat that won’t make the front passenger eat the dashboard. The Safety 1st Grow and Go slim is supposed to be one of the more compact ones front to back. Has anyone had success with it in a very small sedan?

  • A budget backup with decent features, but not the best

We bought the Safety 1st Grow and Go as a backup for grandma’s car. It was cheap and does the job. It’s not as nice as our Graco Extend2Fit but it’s a third of the price. It installed okay once we figured out the recline.
