Baby Trend Trooper Slim 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat (Dash Grey)
The Baby Trend Trooper Slim 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat (Dash Grey) is a budget-friendly, lightweight convertible car seat designed for rear-facing infants (4-40 lb) and forward-facing toddlers (30-65 lb, up to 50" height). Its slim 17.75-inch width allows for three-across installations in many vehicles, and it is FAA approved for airplane travel. Key features include a low weight of approximately 10.3 lb, LATCH compatibility up to 55 lb, enhanced side impact protection, and a flip foot for easy rear-facing recline; however, the seat has minimal padding, and the harness adjustment can be finicky, making it ideal for travel and occasional use rather than daily long trips.

Baby Trend Trooper 3 in 1 car seat experience and questions
I recently bought the Baby Trend Trooper Slim 3-in-1 for travel because it's lightweight and narrow. It fits great on the plane (FAA approved) and is easy to carry through the airport. However, I will say it's not the most plush seat. My kid doesn't complain, but I can see how some might want more padding. Installation was straightforward once I figured out the harness adjustment.

What do we think of the Baby Trend brand?
Honestly, Baby Trend is a budget brand. Their seats pass the same safety tests as more expensive ones, but they definitely feel cheaper. The padding is thin, the fabric isn't great, and the harness adjuster on the Trooper can be finicky. That said, for the price and how lightweight they are, they serve a purpose, especially for travel or grandma's car.

Baby Trend Trooper vs Safety 1st Ellaris for three-across
I'm trying to decide between the Trooper Slim and the Safety 1st Ellaris for my three-across setup. The Trooper is definitely lighter and a bit narrower, which helps. The Ellaris seems to have more padding and cup holders, but it's wider. I'm leaning toward the Trooper for the slim factor, but worried about comfort on long drives.

Travel car seat rear facing for 3yr old
We've been using the Baby Trend Trooper Slim as our travel seat. It's FAA approved and fits rear-facing on the plane. Compared to the Cosco Scenera Next, it's a little heavier but lasts longer height/weight wise. Installation isn't as easy as the Scenera, but it's fine once you get used to it. The harness is a bit of a pain to tighten rear-facing.
