Recommendation for Summer Infant gate at top of stairs
We have one of the Summer Infant ones at the top of the stairs and it’s super sturdy. I bought a cheaper highly rated one from Amazon for between the living room and kitchen and was very disappointed with the quality. It was so flimsy and light. So I’d definitely invest for stairs and probably go cheaper for doorways.

Warning about Summer Infant gate latch
Summer Infant Stairway Plus gate. This was recommended to us by a friend. The latch wouldn't stay locked!!! We did a lot of research before buying, so I'm not sure if we just got a defective one... But we ended up returning it and getting a retractable one instead.
