These are really, really good. Strong, not flimsy. Heavy gauge wire. Strong, not flimsy fender plastic. Would have given 5 but for lacking mud flap... The fenders are very good except for the way PB connects the stays to the fenders. There is a screw application that has unscrewed itself on both the bikes that I have PB fenders on. In both instances I had to resort to duct tape to keep them together. // I ride daily in North Dakota (15 miles a day). Weather is constantly in flux and these fenders do the job. Three seasons without replacement. Multiple crashes, no cracks in the materials. Great value but watch your spacing in the rear triangle. They are a little wide. // I put these on my touring road bike with 700x35c tires several years ago and they have been a lifesaver accessory. I don't worry about the weather anymore.

Value and performance feedback
I've got the 700x45 Planet Bike Cascadia fenders on a 26-inch bike currently (since they were the only wide-ass aluminum fenders I could find). The metal itself has been great, but the silver is more like a light grey... The hardware started rusting almost immediately (like, inside 2 days) and I had to replace it... For your purposes, the SKS might be a better option. They're lighter and a bit cheaper (or at least they were when I bought mine). But you can definitely abuse the PBs more and they'll take it. All-in-all, I'd give the Planet Bike fenders a solid 'B'. They're a little heavy and the hardware leaves something to be desired, but the fenders themselves are solid and they get the job done.

First-hand commuting upgrade experience
Just installed Planet Bike full fenders on my commuter. I am SO happy with the upgrade. Last winter was a muddy mess but I think this year is going to be a whole lot cleaner. Inexpensive AND made from recycled water bottles! Win win win.

I've got the Planet Bike Cascadia fenders and I like them... They're a little heavy but they've taken a beating and keep on trucking. // For commuting, SKS Longboards are probably the gold standard. I've seen them take a major beating and keep the spray off. I have the slightly cheaper, slightly heavier Planet Bike Cascadia fenders on my commuter and they've been great... // The Planet Bike fenders are cheap and effective. I have them on a couple of bikes and they've held up well.
