Buy once: Summer infant extra tall. It's all metal, reasonably easy to open with one hand, and relatively easy to install, though I'd recommend buying different screws... The latch is not quiet/silent but it's got more clicks and is overall easier to use than other gates I've tried.

High quality recommendation for heavy use
I've tried many gates over the years with my kids and dogs. The Summer Infant extra tall has been my go-to. They are a bit pricey but well worth it in my opinion. Excellent quality, nice and sturdy. They do eventually wear out but we get about 4 or so years of heavy use out of them. They look nicer than the cheap gates too.
