Honestly, I hated our Safety 1st. It was SO hard to install correctly. It never felt like it was tight enough. We ended up getting a Graco Extend2Fit and the difference is night and day. So much easier to install and feels way more secure. Also, the Safety 1st has zero recline so my baby's head would flop forward. The price is appealing but I wouldn't recommend it.

Recommendation for a lightweight car seat for flying
I have the Safety 1st Ellaris and it's our travel seat. It's super light (12lbs) and easy to carry through the airport. Installed on the plane with no issues. Downside is no lockoffs so you need to know how to do a locking clip if your car needs it, and the recline is just a line you have to get parallel. But for the price and weight, it's a great travel option.

Comparison between Baby Trend Trooper and Safety 1st Ellaris for travel
Between the two, the Ellaris is lighter and more compact, but I find both difficult to install. If you're set on one of these for travel, watch installation videos and practice before your trip. I'd personally recommend looking at the Cosco Scenera Next for a dedicated travel seat — cheaper and easier.

Seeking car seat recommendations for a 3-year-old
I keep seeing Safety 1st seats on sale. Are they any good? I need something for my 3yo but also have a newborn on the way so would love a seat that could eventually be for baby. But I've heard the recline is awful for infants and they sit too upright.
