I highly recommend the Summer Infant 48W gate. One-handed operation, auto-close, and it looks nice. I've had mine for 2 years and it's held up great. Only downside is the bottom bar can be a trip hazard, but that's most gates. I use it at the top of my stairs with the hardware mount and it's been solid.

We've been happy with the Summer Infant 48W gates. They're easy to install and the auto-close is great when your hands are full. Not the sturdiest feeling, but we've got 3 kids and 2 big dogs and they've held up fine for over a year.
