We have the Safety 1st Easy Install Walk-Through Gate. It's pressure mounted, so no drilling, and it's held up well to our 2 year old. Easy to open with one hand. Would recommend for doorways, not stairs.

Safety 1st gate not recommended for top of stairs
Safety 1st Easy Install gate is fine for between rooms but don't use it at the top of the stairs. It's pressure mounted and can come loose. You need a hardware mounted gate for stairs.

Installation advice: use screws for stairs, not pressure mount
I have a Safety 1st gate similar to that. For stairs, definitely screw it into the wall. The pressure mount might seem fine but it's not worth the risk. I installed mine with screws into studs and it's rock solid.
