Recommendation for best kids helmet currently
Joovy noodle is great. Super affordable, easy to fit, lightweight enough for my little one. You can sometimes find it for under $20 on sale. No MIPS, but if you’re just tooling around on a balance bike or quiet paths, it’s plenty good.

Lightweight and not bulky helmet for preschooler
I have the Joovy Noodle for my 3 year old and it’s been great. It’s very lightweight and doesn’t seem bulky on her. The adjustment dial is super easy to use and it fits snug. She’s used it for her balance bike and scooter. I’d say it’s a good mix of protection and comfort for that age.

Helmet recommendations for toddler in bike trailer
Seconding the Joovy Noodle. It’s flat enough in the back that it doesn’t push their head forward when they’re in a trailer. My kid has fallen asleep wearing it multiple times, so I guess it’s comfortable. Also easy to adjust, and the price was right.

Comfortable helmet for a 2-year-old
We’ve tried both the Giro Scamp and the Joovy Noodle and actually prefer the Noodle. The adjustment mechanism is easier to use and it’s significantly lighter. Our toddler doesn’t mind wearing it at all. Covers the back of the head well too.

Confirming helmet expiration and Noodle mention
Just a note: I use a Joovy Noodle for my kid’s everyday riding. It’s not for downhill or anything, but for basic bike and scooter, it’s been great. I wouldn’t trust it for heavy MTB use though, just fyi.
