The Evenflo Maestro Sport Booster Car Seat is a lightweight 2-in-1 forward-facing harness booster that converts to a belt-positioning high-back booster. Weighing 9.6 lbs and measuring 19" x 27.5" x 17", it accommodates children from 30 to 100 lbs (harness mode for 30-50 lbs). It features an up-front harness adjuster, shoulder belt guide, dual cup holders, and a machine-washable seat pad. Note: The fixed headrest limits booster mode usefulness, as children may outgrow the harness and booster at similar heights. This item is gently used and may show minor wear.

Practical

Karen E.

Lightweight and easy to remove covers to wash!! Cup holders also screw in so they don’t ever fall off. Bang for your buck right here.

Loose armrests

Alison G.

The armrest and cup holders just pop off with the slightest force, even the baby’s arm resting on it. This is a huge risk in the case of a collision. I don’t understand how having parts that pop off easily is allowable in a car seat.

Box arrived squished. Evenflo tells me its good.

Lexi J.

I have to keep it OR pay return shipping. Box arrived squished halfway through. I contacted customer support, they told me its fine. They drop test them. The box was clearly crushed halfway through. I thought after an accident car seats had to be replaced? Apparently not when the cost is on them. Sp...

Good seat, very open for

Tony F.

Good seat, very open for our son. Issue is that the cupholders easily come off.

Waste of money

Keira B.

I got in an accident and had to replace my son’s car seat. The graco transitions was out of stock at the store I went to so I bought this. My son hates it and so do I. It digs into his neck and the straps are always uneven. I usually have to get him back out of the seat to pull on the straps to even...

Fits well in car, easy

Rhoda L.

Fits well in car, easy for the child to get in and out of so the adult does not have to lift them.

Reddit Insights

Reddit generally views the Evenflo Maestro Sport as an affordable, ultra-lightweight travel car seat with functional harness mode but limited booster functionality due to non-adjustable headrest.

  • Rideshare and city living

Watch Out For

highBooster mode is effectively useless because headrest doesn't adjust; child outgrows harness and booster simultaneously.
mediumLower harness weight limit (50 lbs) means heavier kids may outgrow it sooner than other combination seats.
lowInstallation in vehicles without LATCH may require a locking clip, which can be tricky for some users.

Community Q&A

Is the Evenflo Maestro good for travel?
Yes, it’s FAA-approved, weighs only 9 lbs, and is easy to install with LATCH or seatbelt, making it a top choice for air travel.
Does the booster mode work well?
No, the fixed headrest means most kids outgrow harness and booster at the same time; not recommended as a dedicated booster.

Compared To

vs Cosco Finale

Maestro has higher harness slots but similar lightweight profile; Maestro preferred for taller kids.

vs Graco Tranzitions

Tranzitions offers adjustable headrest and better booster mode, but Maestro is lighter and cheaper.

vs Chicco MyFit

MyFit has higher weight limit and adjustable headrest, better for taller/heavier kids, but Maestro is lighter and cheaper.

  • Need a travel car seat - CPST recommendation for Evenflo Maestro

Check out the Evenflo Maestro! It’s a forward facing harnessed booster seat and it’s really lightweight. I just traveled with it for my kid who is exactly the same size as yours. ... The Maestro is for later when your child is 3 (or in my child's case 2.5) and they are too big for the Scenera Next. Unfortunately there is no perfect carseat for the city when your kid is too big for the Scenera Next but not old enough for a booster seat. The Maestro is the lightest I found with an average safety rating.

  • Consumer Reports crash test vs BabyGearLab crash test discussion

It's not going to be great in booster mode - the headrest isn't adjustable (big miss, Evenflo!), so once a kid outgrows the harness, they won't have much room in booster mode ... The Evenflo chest and HIC (head sensor) results were significantly higher than those of the competition. ... With one of the lowest overall scores in the group and below-average crash test data, the Evenflo is not a seat we'd recommend.

  • Evenflo maker of the Big Kid booster seat puts profits over child safety

Commenters discuss safety concerns with Evenflo booster seats broadly, referencing the Big Kid model and questioning overall brand trust; one user mentions the Maestro in context of harnessed seats being safer than boosters for younger kids.

  • Evenflo Maestro for travel? - Preschoolers subreddit

With those stats I’d recommend Evenflo Maestro as a replacement for Cosco Scenera Next - if lightweight is the priority. If a little more weight is acceptable, Graco Tranzitions will also convert to a booster and its headrest is adjustable to ensure a good fit. ... The evenflo maestro has worked for us.

  • Evenflo booster seats put profits over child safety - BabyBumps discussion

Thread discusses a news article alleging Evenflo prioritized profits over safety in booster seats; some commenters express distrust in the brand, while others note that all seats pass federal standards; Maestro is not directly referenced but the brand reputation is questioned.
