The Buggygear Buggyguard Retractable Stroller Lock is a portable security device designed to deter opportunistic theft by securing a stroller to a stationary object or locking its wheels together. It features a universal attachment, a push-button retractable 4-foot stainless steel cable, and a 3-digit resettable combination lock, with a child-friendly monkey-shaped plastic housing. While the cable can be cut with bolt cutters, the lock provides peace of mind in crowded settings like theme parks; however, some users report durability issues such as recoil failure over time.

Community Q&A

Is the Buggyguard worth the price?
Many consider it worth the $25-$30 for peace of mind against opportunistic theft, though some find it overpriced for a simple cable lock.
Does the Buggyguard work on all strollers?
Yes, it attaches to most strollers by wrapping the cable around wheels or frame parts.
Can the Buggyguard be cut easily?
It can be cut with bolt cutters, but it deters casual thieves; Disney CMs may cut locks if left attached to park property.

vs Generic bike locks

Buggyguard is more convenient and better looking but less robust than a dedicated bike lock; some users prefer bike locks for security.

  • Buggyguard as a child-friendly-looking stroller lock

I use a buggyguard (monkey) lock for my strollers. Works great. I have a few, got them on sale at snugglebugz.ca. Looks like a child's toy so my 2 year old loves to hold the monkey part and doesn't fight to take it off like he does with the bike lock. [...] the buggyguard lasted a bit longer than a year before we had issues with it. The recoil got wonky and then the lock just stopped working (can't get the buttons to push to set or change the combo). I'd say we got decent use out of it. I feel the thin wire would be incredibly easy to cut, but really it's just an 'opportunity theft' deterrent - someone can't just walk off with your buggy if the wheels are tied together.

  • Buggyguard recommended for Disney stroller security

I've used a BuggyGuard for a couple of years now - it's compact and easy to use. Like others said it won't stop a determined thief with bolt cutters but it will stop opportunists. If you google 'BuggyGuard' you can find it on Amazon. It comes in a few colors/styles - monkey, heart, etc.
