Recommendation for North States Portico Arch Gate as sturdy and good-looking
We have the North States Portico Arch Gate. It's metal and very sturdy. Looks nice too. The install was a little finicky but once it's set it's great. Way better than the cheap Regalo ones we had before.
Experience with extra-long configuration using extensions
I used two of the North States 5-bar extensions to span a 60" opening. The gate itself is well made, but the extensions didn't fit perfectly. I ended up having to order the 'wide' version extension instead, which worked, but it was a hassle.
General baby gate dilemma discussion mentioning pressure-mounted options
We're looking for a gate that doesn't require drilling into our banisters. Pressure-mounted is the way to go, but they can be hit or miss. I've heard good things about North States gates.
