I have the Graco snug ride snug fit DLX. Used it with our daughter two years ago and plan to use it with our son when he arrives. I love it! I love the extra padding it has, especially around the head. Plus the snug lock base is so nice. It gives me a lot of peace of mind knowing it’s nice and tight and I don’t have to worry about not being strong enough to get it tight enough lol. Plus the car seat has the 'click connect' feature (I think all Graco stuff does now). So it fits into Graco strollers and other Graco bases perfectly.

Comparison between Graco SnugRide, Chicco KeyFit, and Doona
We had the Chicco Keyfit 35 with our first. The reasons we got it were top-notch safety and ratings compared to Graco. However, we ended up selling after our first and going with Nuna Pipa. We found flaws: the base never felt very tight or solidly attached. I don't have experience with Graco but from what I've read, the SnugLock base seems more secure. For this baby, we're considering Graco SnugRide SnugFit because of the easy install and lower price.

I would not splurge on an infant car seat. My Graco was absolutely perfect. We used the Graco SnugRide 35 LX for two kids and it held up great, the click-connect to the stroller is seamless, and the price can't be beat. When I had just one kid, we used the Graco Modes stroller. Now with two, we use the Graco Ready2Grow LX double stroller—both compatible. The infant seat is heavy once baby reaches 16 lbs, but that’s true for any bucket seat.

Graco SnugRide fits compact cars, but front passenger space may be tight
In a Hyundai Kona you're going to need a very compact seat. We have a Mazda CX-30 and only had a few options. Even then, the front passenger seat is not usable if you're over 5'5". We have a Graco Snugride bucket seat. I believe the Graco Extend 2 Fit is the most compact front-to-back. With a December baby, having an infant seat to buckle inside and click into the base is much better in cold weather.
