2 threads · r/toddlers, r/beyondthebumpReddit views the Safety 1st Crosstown Slim as a budget-friendly, narrow seat good for small children or tight spaces, but with concerns about flimsy plastic, hard-to-tighten straps, and short longevity.
Some users appreciate the affordability and narrow width for three-across setups or travel, while others warn about cheap materials, difficult harness tightening, and small size that may not last as long.

Watch Out For
Community Q&A
- Will the Safety 1st Crosstown Slim fit a newborn?
- It claims from 5 lbs but most agree it does not fit newborns well; better from ~2 months.
- How long does the seat last?
- Harness height is low (15.5"), so many children outgrow it by age 3-4 forward-facing; booster mode also limited.
Compared To
vs Graco SlimFit3 LX
The Graco is recommended over Safety 1st for better safety features and less flimsiness, but the Safety 1st wins on price.
vs Safety 1st Turn and Go 360 DLX
The Turn and Go has a rotating feature but high price and mixed reviews; Crosstown is simpler and cheaper.

General sentiment on Safety 1st All-in-One (Crosstown Slim)
Lots of people say they are crap, and I’m sure they’re not the best quality, but I got one on sale for $60 when my son outgrew the infant seat, and it’s fine. It’s a good price point and super slim. My mom has a $300 Graco and tbh, it’s definitely nicer/easier to tighten, but my son has never complained about the Safety 1st. I feel like they’re great grandparents/secondary seats or if you just can’t afford $200+.

Discussion on budget-friendly options including Safety 1st
I have the Safety 1st Crosstown and I really like it. It’s a good price and fits my 4 year old and 2 year old fine. It’s narrow enough to fit 3 across. I also have the Graco SlimFit3 LX and like it more because it’s less flimsy—the Safety 1st is all plastic, the Graco has metal in it. But if you don’t have $300 to spend, the Safety 1st is fine.
