Built like a tank! Helicopter Grandma approved.
I had to replace my other carseat of a different brand (also excellent quality, but huge) with a narrow car seat to fit 3 across in my Tesla. I did tons of research and the Foonf was my number one choice for safest seat. I'm an older woman, grandma, and installed it myself. I will say it was a bit challenging, but now that I've done it once, I don't think it would be quite so hard to install it again. I used the latch and the seatbelt method and that seat isn't going anywhere. I scored the marshmallow color that's on clearance and it is stunning with my white seats! I did make one mistake possibly and that's not having my granddaughter with me to adjust the shoulder straps before I installed the seat. If I really have to find a negative, it's that I will hate it if I have to uninstall the seat and adjust those straps. The other seat I had was simple to adjust by raising the backrest and the straps raised along with it. All in all, I feel like I made the right choice for safety and as a bonus, it's beautiful.
8 Year Review - Excellent
Our first child is now nine years old, and we used the Foonf for eight years right up to the expiration (and outgrowing it). The Foonf is excellent. We've since had two more kids, and each got a Foonf after outgrowing the infant car seat. Eldest kid sat in that seat at least 100k miles, and it still looks new. The fabric is incredibly durable, easy to keep clean, and very stain resistant the few times it was tested. Other parents we know have gone through multiple car seats for their kids, and probably ended up spending more than a single Foonf which lasted us the entire time. It's a shame the expiration period is what is is, because this seat looked like it could serve another kid for eight more years no problem, and I would have been happy to pass it on for re-use. We fit three-across in a 2014 BMW 3-series. It's a tight fit, but it worked. We had to ditch the cup thingeys, cut a notch in the seat protector to make the seatbelt access easier, and also we lost being able to use the Latch system on the two outboard seats, so make sure you have ratcheting seatbelts in all three positions (our truck, sadly, did not have that in the middle seat, which I didn't know about before having kids). So, what didn't we like? 1. The way the seat belt passes through the rear is the same area where a latch on the harness splits off, which can get stuck on the seatbelt, preventing tightening. Once we figured out the issue, it might take a loosening-tightening cycle or two to get it to clear, but it could easily be solved if there was a plastic divider that kept the two belts in separate compartments. You won't have this problem until you have to graduate from the Latch to the seatbelt, but it's there waiting for you. 2. We somewhat frequently moved the seats from one vehicle to another. They are heavy, and bulky. And access is tight, especially for three-across in a small vehicle. They are definitely more convenient for a permanent installation. If you need to move the seats on a regular basis, it's a bit of a chore, and you might consider something more portable (or additional seats). Overall conclusion is that we loved this seat (and still have two kids in service in their own!) and were sad to see it get to the expiration date and move to something else. The kids love them too. Thankfully we have never crash tested them, but I trust that they are in the safest place in the car should that happen. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy three more. Pricey - worth every penny.
LOVE!
Absolutely love this seat! I researched car seats for months and kept coming back to Clek. I wasn’t sure it would fit in my 4Runner, so I was a little skeptical to buy since I couldn’t see it in person. Measurements were within 1” of the others I had it narrowed down to, so I went for it. It sits a little closer to the ceiling than I’d like, but baby can see out the window and loves it! It also fits in the middle seat, which I was really hoping for. The only downside is getting baby into the seat with it sitting up so high and the high side walls of the seat. It’s worth it though. Included pictures for any other 4Runner owners. Also for anyone interested in the vintage color, it’s closer to the pictures than the color swabs on the site. I’d say it’s closer to a dusty mauve than a pink. We got a rotating car seat for my husband’s car and aside from the convenience of the rotation, I hate it and baby doesn’t love it. It’s another highly rated, reputable brand, but it feels cheap and flimsy by comparison. Comparing to the Foonf, the Foonf’s clean design left no question about parts or cushion placement. Also, the Clek manual was amazing by comparison.
Worth their weight in gold
My three children were in Clek car seats during an accident where our minivan was tboned and rolled. My two older kids were forward facing in Foonfs. My youngest was rear facing in a Fllo. No one onsite could comprehend how the children were unharmed, particularly my son who was on the side of the impact. my eldest has a small bruise/abrasion on her collarbone where the seatbelt rubbed her bare skin. There is not another mark on them. I will never purchase another brand of car seat. These seats are worth their weight (which is admittedly a lot) in gold and I can't express my gratitude toward this brand enough. Thank you, Clek, for protecting my babies.

Regrets and frustrations with Clek Fllo/Foonf installation
I curse Clek each time I have to remove and take them out and then try to reinstall them... They are big and bulky... I have a love/hate with them.

Comparison of Clek Foonf, Nuna Rava, and Graco Extend2Fit
I love the Rava 100X more. The Foonf is SO huge height wise and front to back... My son found the Rava to be much more comfortable. The Rava is also much faster and easier to install.

Deal discussion and user experiences with Clek Foonf Railroad Ziip
I have this. It’s amazing. It’s not treated with flame retardant which is healthier for your child... We have a Foonf and Britax Boulevard. The Foonf is such an easy car seat to use. Wish we bought 2 of them.

Mixed feelings on Foonf vs Britax and cleaning difficulties
I have two of the Foonf and two of the Britax Poplar. Would never get the Foonf again, it's just not nearly as well designed as people think it is. Difficult to clean, difficult to put in and take out...

Opinions on Clek infant seat and Foonf for extended rear-facing
We have Cleks—Foonfs and Fllos. They are great... We looked at everything... the standout choice seemed pretty clear after a short while: Clek. Best safety, best materials, best design.

Merino wool car seats and flame retardant concerns
I love my clek foonf. It’s heavy but I feel safe with him in it. The merino wool is a nice bonus—naturally flame resistant and breathable.
