The Motorola VM75 is a non-WiFi video baby monitor featuring a 5-inch color display, remote pan/tilt/zoom, and infrared night vision for viewing your baby day or night. It includes two-way talk, room temperature monitoring, lullabies, and a secure 2.4GHz FHSS connection. While the large screen and high audio sensitivity allow you to hear every noise, users note that image quality is mediocre at distance and the parent unit's battery life is short, often requiring it to be plugged in.

The Motorola VM75 is a budget-friendly monitor with great audio sensitivity and a large screen, but suffers from poor image quality, loud static/ambient sounds, short battery life, and reliability issues over time.

Community Q&A

Can you turn off the loud static sound on the camera?
No, the static or white noise from the camera is constant and cannot be disabled, making it hard to hear the baby over it.
How long does the parent unit battery last?
Battery life is short, often draining quickly even when plugged in, and some units lose charge overnight despite being connected to power.

  • Initial satisfaction turns to annoyance due to loud camera static

I recently bought a baby monitor VM75. At first it was OK for the price, but after 3 days of use I found I could not stand the loud static sound coming from the camera. Baby noises are less loud than the constant static sound. Also battery life is short, I have to keep it connected to power.

  • Long-term reliability issues and poor battery life warning

Don't buy a Motorola baby monitor. We've had ours for about a year and a half. The screen is starting to glitch and the battery lasts about 10 minutes off the charger. We've had to replace the charger twice. The monitor often loses connection even when we're in the next room. For the price point it's fine if you're okay replacing it after a year, but I wish we had invested in something more durable.

  • Poor image quality but decent audio for close-range use

I have the Motorola VM75. It's okay but the camera quality is really not great for longer distances. We have the camera about 3 feet from the crib and I can barely make out facial features on the 5 inch screen. The sound sensitivity is high though, you can hear every little noise. It picks up the white noise machine more than the baby sometimes.

  • Adequate budget choice but with frequent signal drops

I got the VM75 as a cheap non-wifi option. It works but we do get random signal drops. The pan tilt is jerky and the night vision is mediocre. For the price it's alright but I wouldn't recommend it as a primary monitor if you can spend more. We paired it with a VTech audio monitor as backup because we don't fully trust it.
