This sloth has two different attachments for pacifiers, one specific to the Avent soothie brand and a velcro strap to attach other kind of pacifiers. My oldest baby loved the Avent soothie and when we got him a snuggle buddy many years ago the pacifier was completely attached to the animal so it was inconvenient for washing and having to replace the pacifier. This newer design is so much nicer! The pacifier can detach from the sloth for the washing of either. The sloth can be machine washed and air dried, which is great for when you have an active baby and they get it dirty. The sloth is soft and cuddly and weighs just enough to help keep the pacifier in the baby's mouth while the baby is snuggling it. My most recent baby took to a different kind of pacifier, but I am still happy with the function of the animal for my baby to cuddle and to have a back-up pacifier just in case. I was sent a sloth, with is actually pretty cute. I find myself consistently reaching for this pacifier for several reasons. First, the Soothie nipple has been recommended by multiple lactation consultants that we've seen due to its nipple shape. The nipple doesn't narrow as it approaches the base, so it doesn't train baby to bite down on the nipple while breastfeeding. Trust me, mothers will appreciate this. Also, the broad base reinforces baby to have a wide open mouth while sucking, also training baby to breastfeed properly. I also like the fact that the nipple is detachable, unlike the other stuffed animal pacifier holders we have. That means I can detach it when using it in the car seat so the holder doesn't drag the pacifier out of baby's mouth. More importantly, it allows the nipple to be cleaned much easier and more often. I've already cleaned the nipple from the Philips several times, while I have yet to clean the nipples from the other pacifier holders because it's so much more of a hassle. It’s so easy to remove or attach the pacifier with the tab, which makes switching pacifiers a breeze as well. It also makes cleaning the pacifier simple. Along with that, the stuffed animal is super soft and also washed so easily! After dropping on the muddy ground during a walk last week, cleaning both took almost no time.
