Ultra-light travel seat with flame-retardant-free fabric, recommended over Scenera
Second the Romi, it is super light but feels durable and safe...and no flame retardant. easy enough to install and adjust, no way was i bringing our nuna rava on the plane lol that thing is a beast.

Great for small cars and travel, but check fit for larger kids
We have the Maxi Cosi Romi and it’s been awesome for travel and for my small car. It’s super lightweight and easy to install. My only complaint is that the straps get twisted easily and it’s not very padded, but for the price and weight it’s been a lifesaver. Just know that it won’t last forever—my 90th percentile 2.5 year old is about to outgrow it rear-facing.

Mom-shamed for using a budget seat, but community defends Romi
I got mom shamed for using a Maxi Cosi seat... everyone acted like I was putting my kid in a death trap. But honestly it’s passed the same safety tests as the expensive ones. The Romi is light and we use it for travel. I’m not spending $300+ on a seat that will get banged up at the airport.

Recommended as a budget convertible for travel and backup
Get the Maxi Cosi Romi. It’s like $120, super light, and fits on planes. We have a more expensive seat for everyday but this one lives in my husband’s car and we take it on trips. It’s not as plush but it does the job and I don’t worry about it getting wrecked.
