Thoughts on Diaper Genie - mixed feelings and maintenance tips
I have the Ubbi diaper pail and I have been happy with it. Main reason for purchasing it over the diaper genie is I didn’t want to have to buy the special bags. You can put your regular kitchen garbage bags in it. Also once baby started eating solids, we just put all poo diapers in the garbage bin we kept on our back porch (where we also put the cat poop bags). That way we never had poo smell in house and I change diaper pail once a week before garbage day.

Diaper Genie version advice and comparisons
Basically there are different versions of the Diaper Genie, all do the same thing, store poopie dipers until its garbage day. I had one for my kids growing up, we only used it for poopie dipers as the pee pee dipers do not stink and can be thrown in the garbage as usual. Its a good investment, but the only problem I had was not with the Actual Diper Genie but a user error, often the bags wound run out and my wife would empty it and toss the bag in the trash but be too lazy to go get a replacement refill Diper bag and install it, so the next time we would need to toss a poopie diper in the genie, there would be no bag to catch it and it would make one hell of a stinking mess all over the place, also dont forget to change the carbon filter under the lid, that helps to remove oders too.

Diaper pail recommendations and Diaper Genie drawbacks
Buy an Ubbi instead. Diaper Genies are crap and barely hold a day's worth of diapers. Especially when you get into the bigger sizes. Our Ubbi hold about 50 diapers and we don't smell a thing! The one and only expensive purchase we made and I don't regret it. But we also live in an apartment.

Anyone's diaper pail not smell like death? We have the Diaper Genie. When you open it, it absolutely reeks. Does frequent bag changes and cleaning help? We’re about to switch to an Ubbi or a Dekor.... Had it with my first and it was perfect. No smells coming out, easy to change ring, definitely recommend. There are cheaper refill rings on Amazon, not diaper Genie brand and they fit exactly the same.
