The Chicco KeyFit Infant Car Seat Base is a stay-in-car base designed for use with all Chicco KeyFit and KeyFit 30 infant car seats (sold separately). It features a SuperCinch LATCH tightener for secure installation, a ReclineSure spring-loaded leveling foot and RideRight bubble level indicators to verify correct angle, and a smooth underside to protect vehicle upholstery. The base is compatible across KeyFit 30 and KeyFit 35 models (KeyFit 35 base works with KeyFit 30 seats, but not vice versa), measures 20 x 15.5 x 8 inches, and weighs 7.4 pounds.

So we have the KeyFit 30 and are looking at getting a second base. I know the 35 base works with the 30 car seat. Is there any reason not to get the 35 base? It looks a lot wider but apparently it's the same footprint, just with the anti-rebound bar. I've read the installation is just as easy. Anybody have both?

KeyFit 35 vs Uppababy Mesa base ease of use
We went with the KeyFit 35 over the Mesa mostly because of the anti-rebound bar and the easy install. The base is heavy, but it's a one-time install basically. I did it in like 5 minutes in our Outback. Plus you can install without the base using the Euro routing which is great for travel.

SuperCinch LATCH makes installation effortless
Love the SuperCinch LATCH on the Chicco base. My husband was amazed how tight he could get it with one pull. The bubble levels are a nice touch too. We have a KeyFit 30 and the base is solid as a rock.

Base width limits three-across installation in sedan
We tried to put two Chicco bases and a booster in our Accord and it was a no-go. The base is wide and the ARB sticks out a bit. Ended up getting a different seat for the second car because we couldn't fit three across.

ClearTex base compatible with older models
Just want to confirm for anyone looking: the ClearTex KeyFit 35 base works with the regular KeyFit 30 seats. I called Chicco and they said all KeyFit 35 bases are the same mechanically, just different fabric on the carrier. So you can get the ClearTex base if you find a deal and use it with your 30.
