Safety 1st Crosstown Slim All-in-One Convertible Car Seat (Deep Sea)
The Safety 1st Crosstown Slim All-in-One Convertible Car Seat is a narrow 17-inch wide seat designed for rear-facing (5–40 lbs), forward-facing harness (30–65 lbs), and belt-positioning booster (40–100 lbs) use from birth to about 10 years. It features a one-hand adjustable harness and 8-position headrest, easy-access belt paths, and two removable cup holders. While affordable and lightweight for tight three-across setups or travel, its low top harness height (15.5 inches) and mixed build quality limit long-term use for taller children.

Bought a swing and it looked untouched. So happy.
Reddit Insights
5 threads · r/toddlers, r/Buyingforbaby, r/beyondthebump, r/CPST, r/ParentingReddit users view the Safety 1st Crosstown Slim as an ultra-affordable, narrow convertible seat ideal for tight spaces and travel but with notable quality and longevity compromises.
While many appreciate the seat's low price, compact size, and lightweight design, recurring concerns about flimsy plastic, difficult harness tightening, and short lifespan temper overall enthusiasm.

Watch Out For
Community Q&A
- Is the Safety 1st Crosstown Slim good for newborns?
- It's not ideal for most newborns—the lowest harness setting is often too high (around 8-9 inches), so it typically fits babies around 2 months and older.
- Can it really fit three across in a small car?
- Yes, at 17 inches wide it can fit in tight spaces, though installation may require seatbelt instead of LATCH due to limited access.
- How long will my child fit in this seat?
- It may be outgrown early by tall or long-torsoed children; the top harness height is only 15.5 inches, and the booster mode has a low belt guide height of 18 inches.
Compared To
vs Graco SlimFit3 LX
Users note the Graco offers better build quality and safety features but at a higher price, while the Safety 1st Crosstown wins on budget and narrowness.
vs Evenflo Revolve360 (swivel seat)
The Safety 1st is much cheaper and simpler but lacks the convenient rotation feature, which some parents prioritize for ease of loading.
vs Cosco Scenera Next
Both are lightweight and narrow budget options; the Crosstown Slim offers a longer lifespan as a 3-in-1 but the Scenera is even lighter and more compact for travel.

General opinions on Safety 1st All-in-One (likely including Crosstown Slim)
We have the Safety 1st Crosstown Slim. It's definitely budget friendly but I wouldn't say it's the most comfortable or easiest to install. It does the job but feels cheap. That said, it's narrow enough to fit three across in my CRV when I need to transport my nieces.

Comparison between Safety 1st and swivel seats
I looked at the Safety 1st Crosstown Slim but ended up choosing a rotating seat (Evenflo Revolve360) because I have back issues and the swivel makes it so much easier to get my toddler in and out. The Safety 1st is a great price though and very lightweight.

Recommendations for a 3-year-old; mentions Crosstown Slim trade-offs
I have the Safety 1st Crosstown Slim for travel because it's only 14lbs and FAA approved. It's great for the plane but my 3yo is already almost at the top harness slots. If your kid is tall, skip this one. It's more of a temporary seat.

Help with Safety 1st Ever Slim (similar to Crosstown Slim) installation and fit
Just got the Safety 1st Ever Slim (which is almost the same as the Crosstown Slim) for my triplets. It's the only seat I could find that's narrow enough to fit three across in my sedan. Installation was tricky because the belt path is tight, but once it's in it's solid. Newborn insert is useless though—my babies didn't fit until they were 2 months old.

Convertible car seat help; Crosstown Slim noted as budget narrow option
I got the Safety 1st Crosstown Slim for grandma's car. It's fine for occasional use but I wouldn't want it as my daily seat. The straps are always getting twisted and it feels flimsy compared to our Graco 4Ever.
