Very convenient, user friendly.

Love how user friendly it is. And how it is basically foolproof.

No fuss, easy to use product!

LouM

The size is great. You can fit a lot in here and its modular design allows for you to sterilize in small or big batches. It also has a minimalist look to it that looks really nice on your counter. Overall, I would highly recommend this product.

The product is easy to use

CGGab

I am happy because it’s so easy to use, easy to clean and lightweight

Great product

This sterilizer is very easy to use and straight forward. Love the safety features of it turning off when finished. Just wish I would’ve got the one with the built in dryer as it takes a while to air dry. Overall great product.

Easy to use and to clean

Best purchase i made for my babys health, easy to use, easy to clean and like all Avent products you get the quality you pay

Nifty

Birdlegs2

I've actually really enjoyed using this bottle sterilizer. And my favorite things about is doesn't just sterilize bottles, Apostle sterilize teethers, pacifiers, and small rubber / plastic toys. One of my least favorite things to do when I buy a new teether or pacifier is having to boil water and this completely solve the issue. It's very easy to add the water how much you need in there put the lid on and start the sterilizer. It's definitely one of those things being just turn around and walk away forget about until it's done. My only critique is I wish the tongs that they provided were longer. The products that I second their to be sterilized never come out with a weird spotting or a weird coating on them. The product doesn't take up too much counter space as well. I definitely see myself getting tons of use out of this product. I received this product for free for my unbiased and truthful review.

Works well and looks nice

TabithaE

It did what it was supposed to do...sterilize bottles and pump parts. It has a simple, sleek look to it. The large compartment for bottles and separate compartment for smaller parts is great for organizing and maximizing space. My bottles, however, break down to quite a few small parts so I didn’t have room in the small space for pump parts in the same cycle. No big deal though. Personally I went back to just boiling the bottles when needed so I did not have another appliance sitting out. But if you’re in the market for one of these to save time and water then this is a good simple option. I would consider upgrading to the one with a dryer as drying takes a while. I received this for review as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel!!

Great product!

Sduval

I was given this product to test out through Stellar Product Testing Panel! This was a great sterilizer! It was slim on my countertop yet held what I needed it too! I love having something that can help me sterilize baby items quickly! I really enjoyed that this also dries items! If you are looking for a sterilizer, this is what you want!

Saves you time and gives you piece of mind!

EmilyS 31

Love this!! Buy it - it will save you loads of time! When I first received I noticed there is a simple push on/off button and expected something more complex, but quickly realized that was really all there was to steaming the water to sanitize. So simple, but a huge time saver! I breastfeed and work full time so have plenty of bottles and pump parts needing to be sanitized every single day! This is my second kiddo, and with my first I used steam clean bags, which were small and could only fit a few bottles/parts in the microwave at a time. I also always lost track of how often I used the bags before I needed to replace them. I love how the bottles fit perfectly in the bottom part and a top section for smaller pieces like bottle nipples and pump parts. After each sanitize the bottles/pump parts are very hot/clean and seems to work as it should! I wish I would have had this for my first kiddo! The one con is that it does take up some counter space and is pretty tall. But with the baby phase I think you just have to embrace all the extra stuff you need for the time period. I definitely recommend. Saves time and gives you piece of mind having clean bottles and pump parts for your little one. Thanks to the Stellar Product testing panel for providing me with this sterilizer!

This is the baby gadget I never knew I needed! I received the Avent Advanced Baby Bottle Sterilizer as part of the Stellar product testing panel. As an anxious mother, I was having a hard time trusting that hand washing or the dishwasher were really getting my baby’s bottles clean enough. This sterilizer has really given me peace of mind. It’s very easy to use, fast, and I love how much it fits inside. When it’s done sterilizing baby’s bottles and pacifiers or my pump parts, it doubles as the perfect place to keep everything stored until I need it the next day. I would absolutely recommend this sterilizer!

Q

The listing mentions both ~10 minutes and 6 minutes for a cycle — what is the typical sterilization cycle time for the SCF291/00 in practice?

PerformancehighProduct Data
A

We list both times because the steam-sterilizing phase is 6 minutes (kills up to 99.9% of germs), while the commonly quoted full cycle time is about 10 minutes — so in practice you’ll see roughly a 6-minute steam action and about a 10-minute complete run. Keep the lid closed after the cycle to keep items sterile for up to 24 hours as noted in the listing.

Q

What is the maximum bottle height and diameter the unit accommodates (i.e., will taller or wide-neck 9–11 oz bottles fit upright)?

Fit And SizinghighWeb Search
A

We don’t publish an interior “maximum” height/diameter, but this unit is specified to hold up to six Philips Avent 330 ml (11 oz) bottles and is designed for Avent standard and wide‑neck bottles — so most 9–11 oz Avent bottles will fit upright. If you plan to use taller/wider bottles from other brands, fit can vary; some users report certain Dr. Brown’s wide‑neck bottles will not stand upright in this sterilizer. [1][2][3]

Philips product page and official spec sheet; user reports about other-brand wide-neck bottles.

Q

Is the internal plastic and all parts that contact milk/breastmilk (tray, lid, tongs, heating plate surfaces) certified BPA‑free and food‑safe?

SafetyhighWeb Search
A

Yes — Philips confirms that all parts of their Avent products that contact food (including the sterilizer’s internal plastics, lid, tray and tongs) are 100% BPA‑ and BPS‑free. This unit’s plastics are polypropylene (PP) and Philips’ product/eco documents state the SCF291 sterilizer is made from BPA/BPS‑free plastics and is intended for baby feeding items like bottles, pump parts and pacifiers. [1] [2] [3]

Brand FAQ 'Is my Philips Avent product BPA- and BPS-free?' (Philips USA), Philips eco passport for SCF291 (Philips documents PDF), and Philips product page SCF291/00 technical specifications.

Q

What input voltage and frequency is this model rated for (e.g., 110–120V 60Hz or 220–240V 50Hz)?

CompatibilityhighWeb Search
A

We list the Philips Avent SCF291/00 in region-specific mains versions: 220–240 V ~ 50–60 Hz (most markets); 220 V ~ 60 Hz (Korea); 120–127 V ~ 60 Hz (North America); and 110 V ~ 60 Hz (Taiwan). North American units are the 120–127 V, 60 Hz version. [1][2]

Q

Does the sterilizer have an automatic shut‑off when the cycle finishes or when water runs out, or does it remain powered until manually turned off?

SafetymediumWeb Search
A

This model automatically turns itself off when the sterilizing cycle finishes (the brochure/manual state the cycle is ≈10 minutes and the sterilizer “automatically turns itself off”). [1][2] The official manual/brochure do not describe a separate ‘shut off when water runs out’ feature, so we cannot confirm a specific dry‑run shut‑off function. [1][2]

Q

Can it reliably sterilize common breast‑pump parts (Medela, Spectra, etc.) without needing special racks or disassembly, or are some parts too large/oddly shaped?

CompatibilityhighWeb Search
A

This Philips AVENT SCF291/00 will reliably sterilize common non‑electrical pump parts (breast shields, bottles, valves and membranes) — the unit is specified as suitable for pump parts and holds multiple small items. For best results disassemble small pieces and place them face‑down so steam reaches all surfaces; do not sterilize tubing or the pump motor. Very large wide‑flanges or assembled connectors can be bulky and may need to be positioned carefully or sterilized in pieces, but no special racks are required — just check fit before running a cycle.

Philips product page (product_description/specs) plus Medela cleaning guidance and Spectra manuals advising steam sterilization of disassembled, non‑electrical parts.

Q

What cleaning/descaling procedure does Philips recommend for the heating plate and water reservoir, and how often should it be done with typical tap water?

Care InstructionshighWeb Search
A

We recommend descaling this Philips AVENT sterilizer at least every 2 weeks with typical tap water. To descale: pour 12 ml white vinegar (5% acetic acid) and 120 ml water into the water reservoir, leave for about 6 hours or overnight until the limescale dissolves, then empty, rinse thoroughly and remove any remaining deposits with a sponge; citric-acid descalers are also acceptable and avoid abrasive cleaners. If you have very hard water, consider using distilled or purified water to slow scale build-up. [1][2]

Philips AVENT SCF291 user manual (descaling section) and Philips support article on removing white/brown spots

Q

This listing is for a used unit — are all original parts included (lid, basket/tray, drip tray, tongs) and is there any visible staining, limescale, or damage to the plastic or heating plate?

DurabilityhighProduct Data
A

We include all original parts with this gently used Philips Avent SCF291/00 — the lid, inner rack/basket, built‑in drip tray, and the tongs are included. The unit shows only light cosmetic wear (minor surface scratches and small stains); there is no visible heavy limescale, cracks, or damage to the plastic or heating plate that would affect operation.
