  • Doorway Jumper Recommendations and Experiences

We got a Bright Starts Winnie the Pooh one for cheap from Facebook marketplace because we wanted his first time in a jumper to be on sale. He absolutely loves it. We just set it up yesterday, but he was laughing and bouncing a lot. I do worry a bit about the safety though after reading some things, but we only plan to use it for short periods (like 10-15 mins max) and always supervised. Our door frames are standard so it fits fine, but I can see how a taller door could be an issue.

  • Scientific Debate on Baby Jumpers

I’m also confused about the discouragement of baby jumpers. My daughter has a Bright Starts Disney Winnie the Pooh jumper and she loves it. I only put her in for 15 mins a day because I’ve heard it’s bad for hip development, but my pediatrician said it’s fine in moderation. However, I read studies about hip dysplasia and toe walking, so I’m conflicted. The AAP doesn’t explicitly ban them but recommends floor time instead. I think stationary jumpers might be a better option, but she really enjoys the bouncing.

  • Safety Discussion on Doorway Jumpers

We had a Bright Starts doorway jumper for our son and it was fine until one day the clamp slipped off when he was bouncing really hard. He got a split lip and a bruise on his head. Terrifying. We had it installed correctly according to the instructions. After that we switched to a stationary activity center. I wouldn’t recommend door jumpers to anyone. The risks just aren’t worth it.
